Having a good reason for a death of a major character is not enough for me as you are compromising the whole future of the franchise for whoever comes in after you. It has to be a great franchise defining moment that most people after seeing it would agree was the right thing to do. It doesn't matter for the minor characters like Darwin though. Kill away!

You know it was actually Vaughn that was responsible for the deaths, right? They were written into the script he developed before he left the project. Ratner just shot a partialy rewritten version of Vaughn's script.

? I'm down in Cape Girardeau. Cardinals need to pick it up. Second, I don't know if this means X4 is dead. But if this movie turns out to be a sequel to First Class and X3...I will be X-static !!!Because, to me, that means we'll see a good majority of the cast from the original trilogy (whom I love) and the cast from First Class (which was also a great cast). |

It was fox that caused the death of Cyclops and Xavier. The writers had to fight to get
Cyclops In Film. They wanted an offscreen death Inbetween films. It was the studio that wanted Xavier to be killed although they later let them leave the door open for Xavier's return with his mind In new body In post credits scene which according to commantary was Xavier's brain dead twin brother. Matthew Vaughn Is better director than Brett ratner and actully knows the X-Men much better. |

And you're right, the transition from one scene (I can't feel my legs) to the other (next thing you know I'll be going bald) was awful. The impact of Charles being paralyzed was totally diluted when they showed him making jokes about a possible hair loss. Charles' last scene should've been at the hospital, his first realization that his life had changed forever. The one thing I don't want to see in the sequel is a Charles all adapted and conformed to his new condition.

Cast members from original trilogy with one character sent back In time who can cross paths with first Class cast. Matthew Vaughn last year talked about Bringing back Patrick Stewert and Ian Mckellan.Bryan Singer talked about Hugh Jackman In sequel.Shawn Ashmore recently said he was still under contract.James Marsden after first Class came out made It clear he would return.Anna Paquin has said In past she would be up for returning as Rogue. This Is win-win for fox,Lauren Shueller Donner,Bryan Singer, and Matthew Vaughn. The first film can remain a prequel to X-men and X2.The Wolverine can be last film totally In original timeline. In sequel time travel can cause some changes. It can be fresh be still be seen as contuning of X-men film series. They can have connections to X-Men/X2 but don't have to stick to everything In those films and those films still happened.Plus If the deadpool film Is ever made they don't have to worry about wolverine. |

No, not really. Those films happened, but things have changed due to alterations to the timeline. I can watch Star Trek II and Star Trek '09 and feel comfortable knowing both films exist and the don't negate each other. Last edited by Snikt; 06-05-2012 at 01:53 PM. |

The film was clearly intended to be a 'last stand' - a final chapter in that series. However, all those deaths and curings were not necessary. While Rogue taking the cure would no doubt be the choice of most teenage girls in the real world, it went against the themes of the movie. Cyclops could have been recast had they really wanted the character, but they chose to use the death to push forward Phoenix's arc as a destructive force who had reached a point of no return. Most people just didn't want their favourites to die or be cured, that was the main problem. Quote:
I would not be entirely comfortable with Banshee or Havok being bumped off. In the comics they both leave the team at various points - Havok goes off with Polaris when the new X-Men (Storm, Colossus, Nightcrawler etc) arrive, and Banshee sticks around but leaves (for Muir Island to be with Moira MacTaggert) when he loses his sonic powers after overstraining them in a battle. I think following those ideas would be the best thing. Have Banshee lose his sonic powers (and his voice) while battling a sonic weapon. In the case of Havok though, I think that his death might be one way of motivating younger brother Scott to step up as a leader. But I would still rather they follow the source material and not bump off any main characters that don't die in the comics. I would, however, have no issue with Angel (Zoe Kravitz) and Riptide being killed off during a botched mission.

Please Please Please don't connect back to the orignal trilogy. The little nods were enough. They have the opportunity to break away and do their own thing here. Dealing with the original cast and retconning through time travel is way too much of a cluster fu#k IMO. I'm all for this type of story as long as it stays within its own thing and doesn't connect to X1-3/Wolverine.

That option Is way over.First Class has many connections to X-Men and X2.It was never a Batman Begins/Casino Royale.

This is ambitious, but I have no idea how they're going to adapt the storyline. In Days of Future Past, the assassination of Senator Kelly, and the subsequent death of Xavier, leads to mutants being enslaved the world overrun by sentinels. Senator Kelly has already been killed, but with very little consequence, so what events cause the future to go awry, and will this future extend from the same timeline as the original trilogy?

Im sure it will be far from an exact adaption. I dont expect Senator Kelly to play any role thye could essentialy just change the name. Maybe Prof X gets offed? They mentioned the JFK thing a few times. Maybe a House Of M/DOFP hybrid? Since its a Mags centric movie. Who knows. They can go about so many different ways.

Also, if they do adapt this storyline, I want to see some form of the cover art of issue 141 make its way into promotional material, as well as see the iconic image of Kitty (or whoever takes her place) walking past the graves of the dead X-Men in the movie. |

One strong possibilty Is attempt Is made to prevent the event which caused the general Public to become aware of Mutants.Let's say Magneto starting with assassination of JFK
starts series of events that originally leads to public discovering about mutants which eventully leads to Sentinles In dark future sometime after event of X-Men/X2 or first trilogy. This Is win-win situation from all. Some get It as contunion of X-Men series with some things remaining the same.while others get It fresh. Both sides win(although the later camp may not be 100 percent sastified) |

I could see that.
IM thinking since FC main focus is on Fassbender they might have a sort of House Of M type effect. Or play that up. I dont know my minds hurting thinking of possibilites haha. Dont think they would go the wheelchair route in DOFP with him. This can bring in so many new/existing characters. Mags kids should be easy to introduce now. Im gonna be disappointed if this turns out to be bs.

Magneto defently won't be In wheelchair.
This has poential to be biggest X-Men film ever. With possible appearance from actors from earlier films. The one new character to go toe to toe with Magneto Vaughn mentioned could be someone from earlier films. We might only get Sentinles In future sequenze. This helps explain why Fox Is giving them so much time to do this film. Combination of actors from first Class and earlier films could create some major hype.Plus an adaptan of one of biggest X-Men storylines. |

This is not set in stone, though...and I really, really hope they won't forget this franchise has two protagonists.

And what does it mean? That a character in a wheelchair is worthless?

No.I don't think thery will have their 2 biggest characters In series In wheelcahir. For future sequenze I don't both Patrick Stewert and Ian Mckellan will be In wheelcahirs.
They are likly to get Xavier as sole character In wheelcahir since that Is way It should be. Just Imagne a scene with james Mcavoy reading mind of character from future and knowing the dark future that will come from the memorys. It would be a very powerful scene. |
