Yeah, I wonder where Jimmy Smits' character fits in. Is he a Son member from a different charter?

Nero is not a member of the club.

He’ll be playing the role of Nero Padilla, whom creator and showrunner Kurt Sutter described as “an outlaw but from a different environment, more of an older brother or mentor figure.”

I gotta say Smitts looks ****ing awesome in the previews. I can't wait to see how well Harold Perrineau pulls off his role. As long as he isn't running around yelling "WAAAALT!?!?!?!?" or "They took my son!!!" then I'm sure it will be good, as long as I don't picture him in drag as Mercutio too much lol

Question: I saw on Facebook that you watched the first two episodes of Sons of Anarchy‘s new season. And… ? —Kevin
Ausiello: And… holy crap. Something ghastly happens in the Sept. 11 opener that raises the stakes in the war between Damon Pope (a frightening Harold Perrineau) and SAMCRO tenfold. On the bright side, the incident in question could land an underrated member of the show’s ensemble if not an Emmy nomination in 2013 than certainly a place in the kudos conversation.

Question: Any Sons of Anarchy scoop on Jax and Tara? —Megan
Ausiello: As much as parts of the premiere made me turn away in utter despair, there’s a sequence in Episode 2 featuring Jax and Tara that had me looking on in pure bliss. I laughed, I cried, I scratched my head in disbelief that Charlie Hunnam and Maggie Siff have never been nominated for an Emmy for these roles.

When you freeze the video at 1:59, you can see all the members at the table. Cool to see that Dirty Phil was finally patched in. His character grew on me in season 4. It looks like Opie is probably going Nomad while Bobby gets acts as VP in his place. It's so odd to see Clay sitting in Piney's chair with the O2 tank.

I hope the new club characters bring something to their roles and the show. Show's always have the potential to lose a bit of it's value when they kill off characters. As much as I loved Season 3 and 4, the show has never felt the same since they killed off Half Sack. Now Piney is gone. Kozik was a great addition, but they killed him off just when he was patched in and settled into his role. Myles never felt right in as part of the show.

I have to agree. Killing off Half Sack and then Hale were two massive blows to the show but it's still an amazing show. Piney was necessary. The way his death advances the story was essential

I forgot to mention Hale. I think Hale's death upset me the most, simply because I was interested to see if over time he turned into an Unser type, or if he remained mostly clean. His death came far too early in the series. He was a terrific character. Half Sack's death I realize was due to the actor wanting to leave the show, but Hale's felt unecessary. Piney's death felt inevitable since season 2 so I have no problem with that one. Sutter always does a nice job making the deaths a part of the story and using them to advance his plot, but at times it feels he brings them on too quickly.

Still a fantastic show that I enjoy more than any other on tv. I own each season on DVD and watch them all the way through before the new season starts.

From what I heard Taylor Sheridan wanted out pretty much the same as the actor that played Half Sack.

Yeah, but didn't Kenny leave to get a bigger part on a new show? I thought so. Probably just wanted something better.

Prime Suspect, maybe, according to the information on IMDB. No idea. I've never watched it.

He's on Burn Notice now too, but I'm waiting for him to get blown up on it.

No **** man. I hate how much of a bad rep this show gets. It's do dumb how people write this show off just because it's about bikers. It's SOOO much more than that

Yeah, he was offered a lead role in an upcoming show and asked for his character to go out in a blaze of glory, so Sutter (reluctantly) killed him off. The day after that episode aired, the show Kenny left SOA for was canned.

Outside of watching the dvds, not that I'm aware of, but I'm sure there will be a recap aheaD of the show.

Anyone else having a SoA party? My group of friends are big SoA and GoT fans, and there's always a huge get together for season premiers and finales.

I'm glad to hear it. He's a great actor, he was one of the best guys on the Shield.

That was a very creepy use of a Spider-Man reference.
