It does until the cooling lamps overheat and the projector shuts down, causing the screen to go black after you've seen 80% of the movie and want to know how it ends. Happened when I saw M:I4 in December.

Oh god if that happened during TDKR....I'd be kinda fine, because I'd demand to be let into the next screening. Two showings for the price of one.

This. That really does stink, though!

They gave us refunds, but the problem is it takes awhile for them to get it back up and running -- possibly even days. When I was getting my refund, I told the guy they need to make sure it's not an issue in July because Batman fans are a lot more militant than a laid-back M:I4 audience. Everyone was pretty happy just to get a refund. But I figure if you shut off Nolan's last Batflick 80% of the way through, there will be riots. I ended up seeing a regular showing of M:I4 the next day at a different theater.

That happened to me the second time I saw Inception, right before the climax of the van hitting the water/hospital exploding. It completely ruined the pacing and experience for my friend who was seeing it for the first time.

If it had been the first time I was seeing it, a theater worker might have gotten stabbed.

Wow you'd think with IMAX theaters being less in number they'd be much better maintained, that is just bush league stuff.

A little extreme, isn't it? Just speaking as someone who used to work at a movie theater. It does suck when things like that happen, but it's usually not the fault of the employees. Projector equipment and such can have issues. It's not a perfect technology. Some guy came up to me and threatened to sue the theater once when a showing of Zombieland got cut off because of a similar issue. Hey, I understand missing the movie sucks. That's rather disappointing, but show some restraint and common sense people, please. It was rather comical, though, that he actually thought he could sue for that. Moron.

What was interesting is someone in the audience said it was the second time they'd tried to see the IMAX version in the last few days and it screwed up the previous time as well. Kinda scares me to go see TDKR there. TDK was fine, Inception was fine, Batman Begins was fine, 300 was fine, and so forth. Had never run into that problem with this IMAX screen before.

I don't think there was anything extreme about me warning him regarding the response they would receive if the same thing happened during TDKR. That M:I4 audience was a lot more laid back than a bunch of militant comic book fans. If anything I did the guy a favor, although I'm sure they're aware of the potential backlash.

No. I was entirely serious about stabbing a theater worker for an error that was obviously out of his control.

Oh yeah definitely, I'm the most laid back person i know and I might rage blackout if the film I've been waiting 4 years for just stops at the climax....(talk about a ****tease). Imagine the other nerds who aren't all correct up there (and come on it's Batman, half his fans are psychotic like him and his villains) im not suprised if there wasn't a gotham city style riot.

EDIT: like Yurka.

Sorry, I was talking about Yurka. He said he might have stabbed a theater worker. I know he was just kidding. I was just sharing my own thoughts on the situation. For what it's worth, at the theater I worked at, the IMAX is the most important thing in that building. That projector is absolutely off-limits to anyone who is not working in the projection booth. It is a very complicated system. When it was film, it took a very long time to thread. I used to thread a regular projector in just two minutes, but I heard the IMAX took way longer than that. It's digital now, so I imagine it's much easier, but I know the system still has it's issues simply because of the technology, not due to lack of care from the employees.

In any event, I will be seeing TDKR in IMAX.

If I'm not mistaken, the IMAX where this happened is still film instead of digital. They might have switched very recently, but not sure. It's the Edwards Marquee IMAX on the Katy Freeway near Houston.

I hope that doesn't happen with either of the 2 movies I want to see in IMAX this summer. That would really suck.

Yeah, I'm kind of paranoid about it now. But you know, it could even happen in a regular theater too. I remember seeing 3:10 To Yuma a few years back in a regular theater and the screen went black on that one too. Turned out it wasn't the lamps overheating, just that the projectionist screwed up something. It was pretty weird for a minute or so, but they fixed it quick enough that it wasn't a big deal.

I would be very surprised if any theater is still using film in a year or two. Everything is going digital. As a fan of film and a vintage kind of guy, I'm kind of disappointed to see it go, but I understand the reasons for it. The amount of time it takes to thread the IMAX is a good example why. Anyway, back on topic, maybe I'll just see TDKR in a regular theater first, then see it in IMAX. That way, if something goes wrong, at least I've seen the film.

I think that happened once in a really small theater back in my home town. I was young, don't remember it. Hasn't happened since.

I am gonna go on a wild guess and assume that kind of IMAX incident doesn't happen often and I shouldn't worry.

I know this was touched on awhile back... but I'm thinking Team Sewer is actually Team Bane's Compound the more I think about it.

Well, I know they go into the Subway system and get ambushed.

But I don't think that is where Bane and Batman get into it. It very well could be, but after also observing Bane's Compound and its very close proximity towards water, and having water around one part of it, I'm gunning towards that now.

But at least we both agree it isn't the Batcave.

I think that "waterfall" is throwing a lot of people off.

I definitely don't think it is the Batcave, I think its probably a sewer or subway system. Just my 2 cents.

Not the Subway...

Could def. be in the sewer although I have my doubts about that by the way this picture looks.

I really think it is Bane's HQ.

Esp. with his men standing guard.
