I'm not sure about that. I'm sure Transformers 2 made a lot of money (and Spider-man 3 did too) and had a sequel and one of the words I'd use to call that movie is stinker.

But yes, Iron Man 2 probably had action enough to make people think it was cool. Anyways, the first movie deserves a decent sequel.

It was a stinker to me. Not only the script was uninteresting, but the movie was boring as hell, and most of the team was only there for the paycheck. It's not that it didn't meet my expectations, it's that I didn't have fun at all during the whole movie, it bored me to tears.

I'd call it uninteresting and boring more than a bad movie. What's funny to me is that even real stinkers makes me want to watch it again, if only for the sake of sadism. But Iron Man 2 man is stuck in between terrible and so-so, which made me watch it once and once only.

I think he had a fetish for toothpicks. Chewing toothpicks made him evil. The whips were only for fun.

The only problems with Iron Man 2;

1. Whiplash was absent for too much of the movie, and Hammer was not threatening enough to make up for it.

2. Too much focus on RDJ acting like a jerkass, leaving us with too many scenes where not much happens and a lot of power is removed from important scenes.

That's pretty much it. It was not an Avengers commercial, which is a common misconception, as Black Widow and SHIELD have always been a part of the Iron Man comics. Besides, a comic book film featuring *gasp* characters from another comic book is only a problem if you wanted it to be. It fit the whole theme of "you can't do this alone" perfectly.

SR made a lot of promises that it failed to fulfil. That's all I can really say about it.

I watched superman returns in theaters before having seen any of the donner films or read any of the comics, and I actually have pretty fond memories of it.

I liked the relaxed atmosphere, and bosworth was a dead ringer for my (then new) girlfriend, so I was really into the love story aspect as well.

I wouldn't have minded seeing a sequel with brainiac at all, but I'm very glad we're getting man of steel now.
