This is Marvel, lame isn't in their vocabulary. In fact, a lot of words aren't.

I actually really enjoyed AvX3 much more than 1 and 2. I thought characterization across the board was the best it's been in the series thus far outside of UXM11 save for Cap. I'm starting to think however that my preconceptions about how cap SHOULD act may inherently be wrong.

I just feel no excitement for this event after the first three issues.
And the art? Ugh. I can get through sub-par 'epic' stories sometimes (House of M, Civil War, Avengers Childrens Crusade) because the art is fantastic. John Romita Jr right now is elementary and uninspired.

I thought JRJR looked a little better this issue. He's only got one more before passing it off to the next artist, who I think is Adam Kubert. My guess is they would want to leave Coipel for the last 4 issues.

News flash: Bendis to force tie the Phoenix Force in with the Iron Fist history. News at 11! Sorry Iron Fist fans.

I know, but we had some rather loud people that were certain that they wouldn't change Iron Fist's history and/or tie him in with the Phoenix Force.
I just figured I would show this as it just proves that Bendis doesn't care about forcing things where they don't belong.

Well, I finally just read the first issue of it. Pretty good, but I must say, I'm solidly siding with the Avengers on this one (With the small condition that I hope Gambit doesn't get killed off in this series, and I'd kind of like if Colossus survives, too).
I never liked Cyclops very much to begin with, but in this issue, geez, he is a complete ass. Captain America was making a perfectly reasonable request: He knows that the Phoenix Force poses a threat to the entire planet, and just wanted to have Hope in protective custody in case it targeted her, but Cyclops appears to be motivated entirely by his own pride and desire to promote the mutant race. He's basically become a less malevolent version of what Magneto used to be: Arrogant, self- righteous to the nth degree, and only concerned with preserving the mutant race, without giving a damn what the consequences of his actions/ decisions will be for the rest of the world. Plus, of course, he was the one who escalated the whole thing from a simple argument to actual violence by blasting Cap with no provocation or even warning. Cyclops has gotten too big for his britches and definitely needs to be taken down a few pegs. Hopefully this series will do that. |

Pretty much. Cyclops is essentially a religious fundamentalist with Hope as his personal messiah.
Although the next few issues sort of make the Avengers come off more like fascists than the reasonable peacekeepers they first appeared to be in #1. It's sort of lose/lose at this point.

To be fair to Cyclops though, his first thought on the return of the Phoenix is that it is the answer to fix the mutant race so that he is no longer the protector of an endangered species.
But you should be fine by the end of it, because I don't forsee Cyclops walking away from this one.

"The Search for Cyclops" again....?
![]() I don't want him getting killed off. Just get most of the mutants off Utopia. If Scott is killed or taken out of power, let Mags take his home back and be a bad guy again. Any mutie that decides to stay becomes part of his army.

Not to mention the mutants in X-Factor were never part of the Utopia population.
By the way, I'd prefer if Marvel postponed Erik's inevitable return to villainy for as long as possible.

Every time Magneto makes a face-heel turn, it's for the flimsiest of reasons and taken too far. Remember Planet X? "I've just spent the last few months helping the weak, teaching young mutants, healed the spine of my old best friend, and am well aware that it was in fact another mutant who unleashed the sentinels on GenoshaaAAAAAA F*** THAT S***!! I'M GONNA KILL CHILDREN, MARCH HELPLESS HUMANS INTO FURNACES, AND KILL JEAN GREY-SUMMERS FOR NO REASON!! ARRRGGHHHHH!!!"
And then there was that time he popped up as a villain again in the 90's after having spent the entirety of the 80's making up for his past crimes...

The Magneto currently being shown could be Joseph, and the real Magneto is somewhere else. It's a pretty dumb idea, but I could see Marvel doing something like that.

Joseph already showed up recently, I think. The Not A Hero mini-series.

Oh, I didn't know that. I don't buy many Marvel comics anymore so I don't know what's going on anymore.

That's ok, nobody cares about Joseph anyway.
