If the glasses are gone? Then they'll have to find a logical real way to earn Clark Kent's disguise, instead of relying on an outdated hokey excuse.

I wouldnt mind if they did the old glasses trick. But i would prefer they didnt. We're in the 2010's, the character was created in the 1930s for crying out loud. It's always been a corny cop-out move to begin with and they can come up with a few creative ways for him not to be recognized when he's Clark Kent..as opposed to Superman. It all comes down to lack of imagination in my opinion. I don't know the history of Superman well enough but to me, just the IDEA of it seems like it was done out of laziness. Out of a lack of creativity. You guys will probably disagree but i just think Snyder/Nolan/Goyer can come up with a better disguise

The glasses disguise is one of the more genius aspects of Superman. It needs to stay the same.

The trade-off has pros and cons. I think Spidey’s full facemask is probably the most realistic (convincing). But witness the number of times (in the movies) that a pretext is conjured to get rid of the mask. Filmmakers and audiences want to see the actor’s face. And that’s never been a problem for Supes. |

I wouldn't mind seeing a scene where Clark doesn't NEED the glasse to fool someone (Lois, etc), but I think the glasses are a bit of a neccessity mythologywise.

I had no trouble at all believing that Brandon Routh's Clark Kent was a convincing disguise;

Because they look and act different enough that if you didn't know they were the same person you would never catch on.
It's very easy to call a disguise obvious when you know it is a disguise.

We're talking about a man from another planet who can fly and shoot beams out of his eyes, I think the discussion of whether or not his glasses are a good disguise for Clark is ironic.

My personal opinion is that this is a nod to Smallville in a way, he won't be sporting the glasses until the very end.

On the forums, you're right. Not really. In reality, yes really.

Hehe, well, I meant that just because Superman is a very far-fetched character he's still an alien and as such anything could be possible concerning his character. But that doesnt mean they cant treat the more earthbound elements realistically, if that makes sense. In fact, the more relatable these elements are the more fascinating the character's alien traits will become in contrast, especially if he's has very human sides as well.

I just don't see how that could work. And I'm still baffled the Smallville people didn't try to do something other than just simply having people act like they had never seen Clark without glasses.

Getting rid of the glasses isn't just getting rid of an iconic look. It would be getting rid of that final and firmest barrier that prevents you from seeing Superman in Clark.
The personality is the cement and the glasses are the bricks that build the wall around the truth. You would never imagine shy, dorky, clumsy Clark Kent as Superman. But what holds that are the glasses, that cements the whole nerdish image that you wouldn't cross with Superman. Their gonna have to come up with something real intelligent if the glasses are indeed gone.

Glasses provides a way to create a dual identity that does not feel forced, anything other disguise will have to make an extra effort which will feel forced.
Are glasses a good disguise ? Certainly not, but many will overlook that fact a Clark Kent and Superman have some resemblance, but totally different personalities, the only problem is - staff working at the Daily Planet see him everyday (like Lois, Jimmy, Perry) and it is more or less a matter of them knowing his identity but not saying it loud.

Hobo Clark working as a full time reporter since joining as a reporter at Daily Planet ?
Who would give a job to him if he looks like that at all times ? Homeless look would work only if he was an undercover reporter for a specific story, but not if starts to look like that even when working at Daily Planet Office in Metropolis on a regular basis. It cannot serve to be a permanent way to hide his persona.
