Ideally, the glasses are just one element in the overall package.

But as the stories have been told, I think there’s been a tendency to reduce the totality to a single token. Thus, if Clark is without glasses (or has them briefly knocked off) he quickly fumbles to get them back on before facing Lois or Jimmy, etc. This gives the impression that the eyewear - alone - is the difference between disguise and recognition. In a way, the mythos has become the victim of its own "shortcuts."

Sense when is Lois only supposed to be fixated with Superman yet ignore Clark? I remember that used to be the idea, but that it went out with Afros, bell bottoms and disco.
Having Lois be in on th disguise is a horrible idea I think and Smallville proved how horrible it can be, in that show Lois essentially had to hold his hand and lead him to being Superman.

Lois should start off being suspicious of Superman, like a good journalist should. She should also not be rude to or ignore Clark, but if he's portraying himself as a shy, quiet nobody, there's no reason why she should like him at first either. There definitely should be some rivalry going on to get the best stories.

Lois' feeling for Superman should develop naturally, and her feelings for Clark should also come later. Clark isn't the real person, though, so it's still Superman that she eventually falls in love with.

Maybe it'll just be better if they aren't teamed up as partners before Superman arrives or right at the same time, like so often happens.

Let her have been following the Superman story, meeting him in person, seeing him in action for a while, and know CK as just this guy Perry hired a while ago who works in her office and seems nice enough, but who she's never really worked with.

Really establish her knowing Superman as a completely seperate person she would never even think is working in her office, BEFORE you put them right there working together.

IMO it would be dumb if they were partners at the DP. They don't need to be. Journalists are generally independant nowadays.

Clark has enough experience in freelance that he won't need Lois to show him the ropes. They can both work at the DP without closely interacting, especially with Lois seeking attention and going after the headlines, and Clark avoiding attention and fading into the background.

Agreed, she certainly doesn't need to take him under her wing or anything. If anything, that should be Jimmy, going with her to most stories and listening to her advice on how to get hot scoops.

I mean, I don't mind them running into each other when a story crosses over or something. Like they are both chasing leads that lead them to Lex or something.

I mean, you don't want them to have NO interactions whatsoever. That's kind of loosing half the fun.

But it would be good just to have that bit more distance between them perhaps, at least at first.

Bravo! That's exactly how it is. It comes down to how they write it now.

Have you seen 99% of the film? Or like us, have you seen set pics of one Clark in Metropolis scene? Surely no concealment of your identity would be harder than a flimsy concealment? You know, thinking logically.

I think he should be able to accelerate the growth of his facial hair. Ontop of that give him the glasses and a different hairstyle and you have a solid disguise

I would love for Lois to not even make eye contact with Clark at first. He smiles hand outward expecting a shake, she just glances and says"my desk, your desk, bathroom down the hall, bagel shop downstairs, why yes I would love a bagel okay bye now" and she just walks away.

Then it would be "Smallville".

It's more than just the glasses that change when Superman becomes Clark Kent. It's his entire appearance, posture, and behavior -- to the point that people could scarcely believe that one could be the other.

Back in the 1970's I read an issue of Superman (#330) where it was explained that he used super-hypnotism to convince people that he looked different. I thought about it and said to myself that if Superman was that powerful, if he did not want you to know who he was then through sheer force of his super will it would be so. Of course if that were the case, he wouldn't need the glasses, but I think that it is an indication to the viewers and readers that he is in disguise.

So, not only would we see the shirt rip scene...but also include a quick shaving scene too?

Glasses or not they should make his eyes OR the glasses have some kind of effect on people so that they see something else. Like the hynosis thing, the guy has an extreme level of powers. It could be that when they look at him as Clark Kent he simply has the power to make you see different features, etc. But simply Clark throwing on a pair of glasses and POOF it's a disguise...it's never done it for me

It's just so ridiculous to me that nothing can be just a simple, innocent part of a story any more. Everything's got to be overly complicated, over thought, over explained.

Clark Kent has disguised himself with glasses and an alteration of personality since his conception decades ago.

Why is it suddenly a problem now? Why is it any less believable now than it was then?

It was never believable in the literal sense. It was never intended to be. It never needed to be.

I always thought that it was stupid, before I ever heard of Nolan. And it's not really a "problem", i just always found it silly and unbelievable, so when they start talking about how they want to make Superman less of a cheeseball or MOS more realistic for how we are & react in the real world...it seems just as cheesy that a pair of glasses would make somebody completely blind to the similarities. What's over-complicated about it? So you can't create a new disguise that's a little more believable without being super technical? These are brilliant writers and they can use their imagination. It also makes Lois Lane look like a complete retard yet she's supposed to be an intelligent woman at the same time?

It's also an insult to the audience's intelligence.

I dont think Cavill could pull off looking believeably different as Clark Kent anyway. His uncommon jawline is ridiculously obvious.

If they've developed a new way of disguising this Clark Kent, I'm all for it.

So, going with the glasses disguise logic, if Clark's glasses fell off by mistake, everyone would point and yell "Superman!"?
