The only people who like Boston live in Boston. I have a strong hatred for the Red Sox, not so much the Patriots though, nothin but respect for those guys.

I only hate UT in any sport really.

I dislike Indiana, UL, Duke, and UCLA. Don't really hate Vanderbilt, but Kevin Stallings I kind of do.

I really only care enough about college basketball to hate any teams. Most of my NBA dislikes have to do with the players college affiliations anyway.

Being a Pittsburgh fan,I'm rather surprised at all the hate for the Pens and Steelers. I can kind of understand the hate for the Pens...lately. But why the Steelers?

You should have that reversed actually, the Pens are far more likeable than the Steelers. Pittsburgh regularly tops the Most Hated Team lists year in & year out. It's equal parts the fact that they've got the Rings & then the fact that they never fail to remind everyone of that fact. A completely separate issue from the aura they have as a dirty franchise.

Steelers fans act like the most entitled NFL fans in the world. "God's gift to football!"

And the Pens are just whiny crybabies. Their CAPTAIN instigates fights and has his cronies fight for him, because he's too big of a puss to man up.

Plus they have benefited from a number of questionable calls over the years in high profile games, such as the Immaculate Reception, Renfro's TD No Call in the 1979 AFC Championship, and Super Bowl XL in general.

I'm not saying that all of those were necessarily bad calls. I personally agreed with the Immaculate Reception in particular, but they sure made a lot of people really angry.

Oh,ok. I can kinda see where you guys are coming from. I like the Steelers and am a fan,but some of the fans here have that attitude and can be annoying. As for the Pens, they have been rather annoying and cheap lately,no doubt. But I'm a bigger Pens fan and don't agree with Crosby "whining" all the time. I think he used to when he was younger and sadly,it's kinda followed him his whole career. He's one of the best,if not the best in the game.
But,I mentioned this in another post:I am really pissed at the team for their thug-like behavior in game 3 today. NOT the way to behave.

But,as much as the Pens and Steelers are "hated," I always see them at the top when it come to popularity and merchandise sales. So...

lol, I tried to veer away from that but yeah, the greater majority of Steeler Nation that I've encountered tend to fit into that box. You know it's bad when you have Cowboy & Packers fans hating the Steelers.

Ramsay: Yeah, but I tend to dismiss that, officiating leaves ALOT to be desired in nearly every game & it's highlighted in bigger games.

Hate is what makes sports. Any sport is boring when you don't have a team that you channel your hatred towards. I may hate them, but I don't know what I would do without the Saints.

Exactly, if we all pulled for the same team it wouldn't be fun. I may not like other top echelon teams, but i want than to be good and competitive or its not fun. Just not better than us.

Except UT. They can go straight to hell and never win a game.

I wouldn't be too mad if Georgia Tech vanished off the face of the planet.

Nothing compares to the hatred in any rivalry involving an SEC team, I've seen a dude get a busted nose just for wearing gold down here.

There are usually a few reasons why a team can be hated.

1) Fans. See Philly fans.
2) Winning. See Yankees, Lakers, etc.
3) Hated Players. See Kobe, Roethlisberger, Lebron

With the Steelers, 3 Superbowl appearances within 6 years plus the perception that Roethlisberger's a rapist. I'd say it's a combination of 2 and 3.

Add Cheating in too, though it almost only applies to NCAA sports.

Yea, especially Football. You don't F with Football in the SEC, its up there with the bible.

I'm a UK guy through and through. Its EASY being a UK basketball fan. I'm also a long suffering UK football fan to though. NOT so easy.

Bad thing is we "could" probably be pretty good in another conference like the ACC. We could compete. The SEC is just BRUTAL in football.

Maybe I'm unaware of the stigma being on the East Coast, but I've seen Cowboy and 49er fans acting more entitled than Steeler fans this year. Even before the most recent 2 Super Bowls, I've always seen Steeler fans around.

I really don't see what the big deal was. It was pretty much just tapes of practice, which they show on NFL Network all the time. Any good coach won't be affected by a video of his team practicing.

Actually, it was more than taping practices, they were taping the opposing teams defensive signals, so that they would know what defensive plays they were running.

Dont most teams just have one of the linebackers receive plays through a headset and call audibles on the field? Defensive signals don't mean much in my eyes. Plus, after they got fined and were forced to stop doing it, they went on to have the greatest regular season ever. I may not be a fan, but I don't have a problem with them.
