Thanos
in the comics? I just wanted to see on what it could potentially look like and if Thor would actually have to give it his all or more in order to take on that individual.
He's fought Thanos several times and while Thanos is definately more powerful Thor is strong enough to put up a good fight.

Interesting; thanks for explaining BigThor.

Yeah, so far, we haven't really seen Thor encounter an opponent who had him outclassed and outmatched; not even in the manner that Tony Stark found himself in when he was going up against the Iron Monger with only limited amount of energy inside him.

Should be interesting to see how he reacts to an opponent like that.

Yeah he'll certainly be outmatched whenever he faced Surtur in one of his solo films and Thanos in an Avengers sequel.

As a matter of fact Thor has many opponents that outclass him in strength, there's Kurse, Mangog, Ymir, Desak, and of course Surtur himself.

Given that we've heard and seen on what Thor has done in the two films that he's been in, it's kind of hard to imagine (and this is coming from someone who just became a fan of his after seeing his first film in the MCU) that there are foes out there that can do that to him.lol

If Thor were to inherit the full usage of the Odin force when becoming king, would that boost his power enough so that he can contend with those foes? Also, does him being an elder god have some benefits for him as well?

Thor with the full power of the Odin Force in addition to his own powers would put him above each of those characters even Surtur.

In fact, there was a Thor series in which he gained the full power of the Odin Force and even reformed the entire moon PIECE BY PIECE!

Hell yessss

I would love to see King Thor on the big screen as a matter of fact he's probably sporting my favorite Thor "look" ever.

It would be cool, although it would make it harder to write if he became that powerful. Especially a third Avengers since he'd be a lot more powerful than the rest combined. But of course, if it does become a lifelong role for him it should be a twist that happens at some point.

Not really, there were villains that were his peer during the King Thor arc and maybe in Avengers 3 he could show up during the final battle and go toe to toe with Thanos.

Yes, he of course has villains to face but I just doubt that they'll want to use Thor as a deus ex machina in any Avengers film, and therefor the balance would be harder to write. That's not saying I wouldn't want to see it though.

But there's still one more day until I get to see Avengers Thor so I'll have to focus on that for now...

From what I hear Hulk is pretty close to being a "deus ex machina" in TA, so who's to say Thor can't go toe to toe with Thanos in A3 while the other team figure out the source of his power?

I hadn't quite gotten that impression but if that's true then there's of course a much bigger chance of that happening. Unfortunately it would also lessen my enjoyment of the movie tomorrow as that's not what I wanted to see in the first movie.

Not sure if this has been posted yet (sorry if it has), short little article interview with Hemsworth. Complete with an interesting story from when he was shooting Thor (still trying to figure out why Tom would need a whip to help learn knife throwing *lol*):

Not to mention, in those Classic Thor days, Thor was always Holding back for fear of killing anyone.
I personally would like to see a what-if story of Rune Thor and Thanos go up against each other.

As far as action is concerned, I hope they manage to up the ante once more in Thor 2. He kicked ass in Thor, at the beginning against the Frost Giants, but the fight with the Destroyer was over way too soon. Now in Avengers, he kicks so much ass. Against Iron Man, Hulk and even for a bit without the hammer. I hope Thor 2 will even be better. I want to see him battered and bloody.

I was MORE than happy with what we got in Thor. Tho it did need more action but being an Origin movie I can see why there wasn't too much and now that the origin's out of the way I hope it starts with action and doesn't STOP in Thor 2

I hope we'll get more of his sleeveless look in Thor 2. It just looked great and he also looks more badass if he gets to flex his muscles.

Gotta hand it to Hemsworth. That scene with the Big 3 standing in the forest....massive arms. They really nailed Thor's look.

I can imagine it is, seeing how he put on 13 kg for the role and none of it seem to be fat.
