The Avengers Critics Reviews Thread - Part 1

Since the worldwide April release is in about a month, and reviews are usually released a few weeks before, we should get a few early reviews in the coming weeks.

So this is just getting ready for that.

WARNING about the MTV one, i heard it ruins every plot point in the movie, but I'm not reading it as I want to hold out, so be careful if you do read it.

Channel 4 in the UK are gonna be doing a feature on the Avengers tomorrow at about 11.10am. So they will probably do about a twenty minute segment showing the trailer with cast interviews.

So far, so good with the critical reviews. I do expect the US embargo will be lifted soon, like maybe the Friday or Monday before TA's domestic release.

Well a few big US sources have broke the embargo anyway. Wouldn't be surprised if more do. And if they continue to be glowing, i doubt Marvel/Disney will have any reason to complain.

Really liked that little video collage they did. I especially enjoyed the use of this little piece here for The Avengers part.

It was quite the distinctive score. It really is unrecognizable compared to most of the stuff we're used to hearing from him.

Yeah, I guess the critic reviews on the domestic front might start trickling in next week. I really just want The Avengers to release a critics' blurb ad that doesn't automatically start with some random review that I've never heard of.

I'm thinking we'll be seeing a TV spot with blurbs from THR and Variety very, very soon.

So this has a 96% score on Rotten Tomatoes but the one review that is supposedly rotten gave it a 3/5, is that really rotten?

I wouldn't consider it rotten, I think anything above half way should be considered positive. But the critic themselves chooses whether it should be rotten or fresh.

It's about as high a score as you can give and still choose rotten (I believe the reviewer gets to choose how it is marked on the site).

Also the review if you read it is not really that negative.

On a side note, I've booked my IMAX tickets to watch this next Saturday with my girlfriend & my younger brother. They're both looking forward to it as much as me

Yeah that mtv review is just bad karma all the way. Hopefully the "reviewer" is paying the price, though since we are talking mtv I doubt it.

I'm guessing there's going to be a lot more on April 26 since some countries are already showing the film on the 25th, expect some negative reviews as well.

The reviews are more glowing than those examples might sugest.
