My wife and I stopped I AT&T today because I wanted her to check out the Galaxy S3...Surprisingly the Samsung rep was there and he told me to wait until February...I asked what was important about February and he said you can upgrade into a Galaxy S4 instead of a 3.

So...I decided to wait.

Nice, but I think an announcement would then need to happen in the next two weeks. I'm expecting an announcement in the middle of February for a April/May release.

He could be telling the truth, but a lot of times reps don't know and are just best guesses.

If it is true, and the rumored specs turn out to be true, then the Xperia Z is screwed. It needs to be established at least a month before the SIV comes out in order to put it's name out there, or otherwise it's going to be overshadowed completely.

I have an Inspire right now... I'm not sure if I can wait until April or May, Haha.

Anyone have the Note II? I liked what I played with.

I like the color and shape of the Note II, but it would have been a little big for me as a daily driver.

The SIV/V or whatever it will be called better have something amazing. The rumored specs wouldn't really make me want to upgrade from the SIII or take it over the XZ.

I wouldn't say hold out for the newest phones, but considering the SIII has been out for almost a year, I'd wait personally.

I've heard nothing but good things about the Note II. I've seen tons of people with one whenever I take transit into the city. If you think the size isn't a problem, I'd say go for that instead of something else.

I actually love the size of the Note II... I carry my 3DS in my pocket a lot.. So I know I wouldn't have an issue with the size.

The AT&T salesman said his wife absolutely loves the Note. He also said since I'm a gamer I may enjoy the big screen more than most. He more or less said it was a giant Galaxy S3.

I don't think you would, but with the features it's packing (bigger screen, full HD screen, wirless charging, Exynos 5 Octa which is a quad-dual core processor, etc). I'd wait.

Jealous of the 3DS, I still own a DSi! The size is pretty nice, but I find 5" to be the sweet spot for me.

yes, i would advise everyone to wait to get a new phone if you can.

between the sony xperia z and the samsung s4 (and even the htc m7 which looks meh, but would still be better than most phones out now), the new flagships are on the way and are worth waiting for.

Agreed.

The best time to get a phone is during May-July and Sept-Nov. for new phones.

Like I said, if you pull the trigger on the Note II or even the GSIII, you'll be very happy with it for the next two years.

That's honestly all I need to hear. I've had two phones by HTC that were pretty much instantly dropped by them (as in.. They stopped supporting them) a few months after I bought them. I just don't want that to happen again.

HTC has surprisingly admitted fault to their update issues (as in focusing on only their newest models for udpates and leaving customers with empty promises), and are now going to produce less devices per quarter. This is a good idea because less devices means they'll be able to focus on updates properly. Whether or not they actually do that remains to be seen.

My wife is a huge fan of her HTC Thunderbolt, but the ICS update that was promised keeps changing from yes to no and back. She's sick of it, so I definitely feel your pain with them. Plus their batteries are atrocious.

Depends on what she misses; if it's the keyboard, then I would recommend the X10, which doesn't come out til later this year.

I will never go HTC because of this and the crap battery life (sometimes Sense, too). Sad cause they make some pretty great looking devices with great build quality.

Oh man...The battery on my Inspire was NEVER good. It never lasts an entire work day. It ran 6 hours, tops, with NOTHING running on the thing. Since I've had it two years it clocks 4 hours...Maybe more like 3 1/2 hours.

Mostly the size and keyboard. She looked at the the one in the thread here and said she's probably just going to go with Samsung as the AT&T rep pretty much convinced her that they're the best Smart Phone company out there.

My wife is connected to the cord all the time. It's really annoying that she can't go out for a few hours, even with settings turned off, without having to carry the charger with her.

Same. I have a charger kept my work station and a charger in the car. Kind of takes away the "mobile" part of "mobile phone."

New to this thread and got a question about my iPhone 5. Is it common for the battery to be this god awful? I swear I have to charge it twice, if not three times a day.

IIRC, there were reports that iP5 suffered from battery drainage issue with iOS 6 and one of the subsequent upgrades. I'll look it up.

Yeah, I've heard something about it being due to the iOS6 software. Hopefully they fix it.
