Only when it's called for.
Which most certainly isn't now.

Of Allll the Flash stories they could do. They do Flashpoint. So yeah "Ugh!" Cuz I would rather they did something else.

Something told me that for better or for worse Flashpoint would somehow be adapted.I just didn't expect it to be in the Flash's first DTV feature or to be this soon.

I actually liked the premise and main storyline of Flashpoint. Probably one of the most emotional comic book stories I know (or at least relate to). Just didn't dig the pacing and worldbuilding so much.
Then again Return of Barry Allen and Blitz are two of my favorite Flash stories. I guess they decided to adapt a Barry story rather than adapt a Wally story. The only other good Barry stories I know are Flash of Two Earths, and Gauntlet of Super-villains (the first Rogue team-up).

I don't think that animated movie "Flashpoint" will have anything to do with the DC comics event -Flashpoint.
Its just that they have used that Title name. |

The whole event spanned over multiple issues (like Blackest night event), usually its difficult to condense it and make a 70 minute animated movie out of it.

Under the Red Hood was like 12 issues, and they still adapted it pretty closely to the comics. All Star Superman was 12 issues. Public Enemies was a 6 issue arc. As was Apocalypse. So yeah, I don't see the problem.

They probably wont go all in depth on stuff like, why Atlantis and Themyscara tearing s**t up fighting each other. Or whats going down with Thomas and Martha Wayne's crazy.

True that. The worldbuilding got pretty annoying in the mini. I didn't feel that every single minor character was needed in the book. Cool concepts (like S.H.A.Z.A.M.) but pointless to the main story.

Interesting. This sounds like DC's way of selling the New 52, or trying to promote it.

Yes I have. I loved them both really. I just liked Earth One a little more because it was something new and fresh although I loved the ending to Brithright with Jor-El and Lara getting to see that Kal-El made it to Earth alright. I think that is a fitting end for them knowing they don't have to worry about their son. Earth One I liked a little more because it made Superman feel more human.

I didn't think EO felt fresh at all. It felt like the exact same origin we've seen 5 times now but overly rushed and lacking any real depth or resonance.
Batman (the mod here) once told me that Birthright is Superman's Batman Begins...and I agree completely. It both did a very nice job of expanding on his origins, as well as delving a bit deeper into his personality and it's formation due to his experiences. If I was looking for a fresh and original Superman origin, I'd look to Morrison's Action Comics run. At least with that he structured the plot differently, reenvisioned Superman's personality a bit, and introduced some pretty sci-fi storytelling that had been missing from Superman comics for years now. And has some humor worked into it as well. |

This may be out at the earliest Fall of next year...
Justice League: Doom was recorded initially in October 2010, and released Feburary 2012. Unless Kevin was talking ADR sessions.

Glad FLASH is getting his movie.
Just wish it had been a "FLASH OF TWO WORLDS" from Flash #123. Why do they only adapt stories that have been created in the past 20-25 years? |
