Default The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (2013)

Well, the movie will premiere November 2013 and will start filming in September.

What are your casting preferences? For me, is especially interesting to see who will play Finnick Odair.

The Script Is Be Rewritten
Quote:
Catching Fire is catching a new writer.

Michael Arndt
, who won an Oscar for his Little Miss Sunshine screenplay and penned Toy Story 3, is in talks with Lionsgate to work on the high-profile sequel to The Hunger Games,

Francis Lawrence
is officially on board to direct the movie, stepping into the chair vacated by Gary Ross, who helmed the $600 million-grossing first installment in the franchise.
The sequel is barreling toward a late-summer production start. While Lionsgate doesn't yet have a deal with Arndt, if he signs on, he will have to work double-time to get the script ready due to a squeezed schedule caused by star Jennifer Lawrences commitment to Foxs X-Men: First Class sequel. That tight schedule was one reason Ross declined to take on the project.

Oh dear god yes... We already know she can play b**** that isn't really a b****.

And Oliver Platt as Plutarch is also perfect.

Lawrence shoots beautiful films(especially Constantine) and something about the way he captures forestry is great.

Hopefully this time he will be shooting a film with a strong script(aka a script that actually follows the book that captivated the audience in the first place). If he does that, we'll have a real winner here, a beautifully shot winner.

Good point. It seems like this guy has made a career of completely ignoring source material.

Uh... Francis Lawrence will be under Nina Jacobson and Suzanne Collins' thumbs all the way during production. Any changes he suggests will have to be approved by them.

And I like the directorial change ensures James Newton Howard's return to score the sequel (he probably would've returned if Ross was directing). He contributed some understated, very powerful music to the first film.

Which Twilight Star May be Catching Fire?
Rumor mill claims Edward Cullen himself may be in Hunger Games sequel.

"The Hunger Games franchise became kinfolk to The Twilight Saga when Lionsgate bought Summit Entertainment. Now a new rumor claims one of the stars of the blockbuster star-crossed supernatural romance series could land a major role in the upcoming Hunger Games sequel Catching Fire.

Total Film claims that Lionsgate wants Edward Cullen himself, actor Robert Pattinson, "to take on the role of Finnick Odair, a former tribute with an eye for the ladies, who gets dragged into the Third Quarter Quell (a Hunger Games contested by previous winners).

While it may eventually prove hogwash, it should be noted that Pattinson's Water for Elephants director Francis Lawrence is helming Catching Fire. And Lionsgate really would be remiss to not at least consider Pattinson's Twilight box office appeal when dreaming of adding to their already quite full Hunger Games coffers."

I dont think he'd take it. He seems to be more interested in smaller movies/stories. But we'll see

Emily Blunt for Johanna

He was okay as Cedric so he might be good, but I would prefer someone else. Funny, if he does get the role he'll have starred in all three of the big teen book franchises.

I really only dislike the main three, and that dislike stems from how much they annoy me. Patterson isn't the worst actor, but he doesn't fit the role of Finnick at all.
Kellan Lutz as Finnick would work for me, actually.

His role in HP4 was a minor supporting role. And technically, he was in two HP films (if you count a moving picture and flashbacks in HP5 as a cameo).

Finnick can't just be a hot guy, though. He has to be absolutely gorgeous. Like, so pretty he could a girl. There's a few actors in Hollywood who fit that ideal.

No, they're going start filming in Atlanta next month.

http://www.onlocationvacations.com/2...ed-in-atlanta/

I know some film franchises change locations between installments... even The Dark Knight Rises wasn't immune to this. But this bites... I was really hoping they'd come back to my state for the sequel. Maybe they'll do some unit shoots in NC, or maybe even reshoots back here...

No way filming would've started in September, they need to get this done by end of of the year. TDKR changing location was a matter choice by Nolan I believe. After filming in Chicago for two movies he enjoyed some of the locales Pittsburgh offered.

But isn't the setting for this series primarily a dystopian society. They couldn't really use the modern city as a setting in the film. So where it films shouldn't be that big of a deal.
