Well, I haven't read the books so correct me if I'm wrong....but isn't Finnick's whole plight defined by the fact that the entire nation (or at least the wealthy elite) wants to f*** him? He's supposed to be the most beautiful man in all the land or something like that? I would think there's a certain attractive-ness level required for that kind of role.

I hate this notion that beauty is a bad thing. Its a point of his character. Just getting some random "hunk" like that previous list is not doing the character justice. You can have someone who is beautiful AND be a great actor. Look at Nick Hoult, whom I'd still consider my ideal Finnick unless someone points out another better choice. The 3 guys from the last page are meh choices. Hammer is definitely the best one out of that list. Last edited by JP; 06-05-2012 at 09:34 AM. |

Well I don't find Nick Hoult to be attractive at all (obviously Katniss would disagree), but I'd still take him over Armie Hammer.

'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire': Philip Seymour Hoffman offered the role of Plutarch Heavensbee
While rampant speculation on who is or is not in the running for the role of Finnick Odair in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire continues to set the Internet ablaze, producers have reportedly made their first offer for another pivotal role in the sequel. According to multiple reports, Oscar-winner Philip Seymour Hoffman has been asked to play Plutarch Heavensbee, the new Gamemaker at the Capitol after Seneca Crane (Wes Bentley) was creatively executed at the end of The Hunger Games. Plutarch is a far savvier political animal than his predecessor, and he plays a crucial role in the events of Catching Fire. Hoffman just ended a widely acclaimed run playing Willy Loman in Arthur Miller’s Death of a Salesman on Broadway, so why not take the summer off and then hop onto one of the biggest movie franchises in Hollywood? Should the deal go through, it will be the first major new role cast in Catching Fire. Director Francis Lawrence is due to begin shooting the film later this fall. Lionsgate had no comment. insidemovies.ew.com/2012/06/11/catching-fire-philip-seymour-hoffman-plutarch/ |

I had originally pictured Oliver Platt, as I have said many times before, but Philip Seymour Hoffman would be awesome.

I imagined actors like John Goodman or Stephen Tobolowsky for the role but Hoffman's a fantastic actor and it'd be great if he accepts.

Just finished Mockingjay and well no spoilers here but it get into some real dark gears of war type s**t, how are they going to keep this pg-13?
Oh and yes Finnick is supposed to be drop dead gorgeous to the point where you can't take him seriously at first. Armie is perfect for that.

Relative to Jennifer Lawerance, Mia looks about the same age as her, though I think Joanna is suppose to be a bit older, real actors age aside.

Could This Be Brutus in 'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire'?
Casting news regarding fan-frenzied franchises like "The Hunger Games" is usually kept very close to the chest until a very specific and methodical announcement process employed by the studio comes through, but every so often an actor'll unknowingly let it slip before he or she is supposed to that they've scored a role in the movie. So, has that very thing happened with "Magic Mike" actor Kevin Nash and the first "Hunger Games" sequel "Catching Fire?" Maybe so. According to USA Today, Nash attended last night's premiere of "Magic Mike" and told the publication that he's in talks for a role in "Catching Fire" and said, "I just pray it's recurring, that he doesn't get killed." Nash, a former wrestling champion-turned actor, definitely has the look and age for one of the named tributes in the "Hunger Games" sequel: Brutus, the buff, 40-something District 2 champion who happily volunteers for the third Quarter Quell victors bout. True, the character wasn't the most concentrated-upon in Suzanne Collins' book, but the same was so for President Snow (Donald Sutherland) and Seneca Crane (Wes Bentley) in the first "Hunger Games" installment. Besides, there's a lot of meat to be drawn from Brutus' connection to 74th Annual Hunger Games tributes Cato and Clove, especially since Katniss killed his district's boy tribute. The theme of "Catching Fire" is remembering who the real enemy is (the tyrannical government system itself), but while Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) tries to see the bigger picture, it's guys like Brutus who keep the Capitol's way of things alive by playing the game full-throttle. So, in that sense, Brutus is a more significant villain than previously depicted and could be a fun role for the filmmakers and Nash to expand upon. http://www.nextmovie.com/blog/kevin-nash-catching-fire/ |

That website is reading TOO much into it. No way they would extend the role of Brutus ESPECIALLY if Kevin Nash is playing him.
Nash was just in Rock of Ages as a body guard. He stood in the background and said one word the entire film. |

Yeah, I don't know why they feel that from what little he said that they'd think of extending the role for him. He's a background, filler actor, if anything.
