Jena Malone in the running for JOanna now too.
http://insidemovies.ew.com/2012/06/2...catching-fire/ And Mia is out http://insidemovies.ew.com/2012/06/2...johanna-mason/ I really wish Emily Blunt would get some consideration, or at least hopefully she already did |

Jena could definitely pull off Johanna's snark.

Lets hope she looks better than she did in Sucker Punch.
I'm superficial. Sue me.

Is Dianna Agron still in the running? I heard rumors she was a while ago but never that they were confirmed or discredited.

Didn't Milla Kunis throw her name out there for the role or was that just another rumor? She would be great.

It's official!
Jena Malone Chosen as Tribute for 'Catching Fire' While many in Hollywood are cutting out early for the holidays, it’s reaping day for Jena Malone. The Sucker Punch actress is in talks to play snide tribute Johanna Mason in The Hunger Games sequel Catching Fire, a key role that will be reprised in the trilogy’s third installment, Mockingjay. Malone has the offer and is in early negotiations for the part, according to sources. The move nixes premature reports that pegged newbie actress-model Zoe Aggeliki as the front-runner to play the ax-wielding former Hunger Games winner from District 7, who aligns with Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson) in their return to the arena for an all-star death match. The role requires a mix of wit and physicality. Although Mason enjoys some of the best one-liners in the Suzanne Collins novel, her first appearance finds her stripping out of her tribute costume in an effort to make Katniss uncomfortable. The movie is heading for a late-September start with director Francis Lawrence. Malone, repped by Gersh and Hirsch Wallerstein, most recently appeared in History’s hit miniseries Hatfields & McCoys. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hea...r-games-344580

Mila would have been good too. She has that olive skin which makes her racially ambiguous.

I've always loved Jena Malone. I still think she's one of the best, most underrated young actresses out there. She's kinda plain looking, but in a cute, girl-next-door way.

Malone is a good actress, I can easily imagined her having all of Johanna's traits down to the tee.

Phillip Seymour Hoffman as Plutarch Heavensbee.
Source: Lionsgate July 9, 2012 Lionsgate and the filmmakers of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire have announced that Philip Seymour Hoffman has been cast in the role of Plutarch Heavensbee, Head Gamemaker for The Hunger Games, in the adaptation of Suzanne Collins' worldwide smash hit novel "Catching Fire." The actor and filmmaker just wrapped a Broadway run as Willy Loman in the revival of "Death of a Salesman" for which he was nominated for a Tony Award. He will next be seen in Paul Thomas Anderson's The Master and the indie film A Late Quartet alongside Catherine Keener and Christopher Walken. More recent films include Moneyball, The Ides of March and Jack Goes Boating, which marked Hoffman’s feature directorial debut. |

Two great casting choices down. Now they need to nail Finnick's casting.

landing Tucci and Hoffman in this series is amazing to me. the cast they've built thus far has truly been stellar.
i can't wait to see who they cast as Finnick, Brute, Beetee, Wiress and Coin.

The Games does feature in the second book, but it's not the usual deal. It's got something special to it that doesn't occur very often for the Games.
