I'm a big fan of Amy Adams, I'm looking forward to seeing what she will bring to the role, and I used to think to think she looked way younger than her age. However, I have to admit that she seems to be showing her age a lot in the scene from the trailer and it is a bit of a problem because Lois is supposed to be roughly the same age as Clark. It's a bit hard not to see it now.

im still not a fan of her. i wish Zooey Deschasel or Olivia Wilde got the gig but to be honest any movie with nolans name on it always has a weak casted women, maybe she'll change things

Wow can't believe that people aren't happy with Amy. She is a phenomenal actress. She looks young (especially in the trailer). That moment between her and Cavill was a perfect way to cap the trailer. The chemistry looks very much there.

I didn't say I cared... I was saying it was weird for WB to do this, it is uncharacteristic of them. Which is why it got me thinking.

Examples-
Carrol Ferris and Hal Jordan are supposed to be the same age, yet they cast Blake Lively who is 11 years younger than Ryan Reynolds

Rachel Dawes and Bruce Wayne were supposed to be the same age, and Katie Holmes is 5 years younger than Bale

Then the one that takes the cake is Kate Bosworth as Lois Lane. What? She was what, like 22/23 when filming Superman Returns. Was she a well established Daily Planet reporter out of Junior High? Then meets and gets knocked up my Superman before even graduating high school?

Edit: I didn't even mention Jonah Hex, I'm sure Megan Fox was chosen for her acting ability and not just to be a pretty face.

This is a tangent about age in movies though it's not directed to what you're saying, it's connected: In acting, it's all about the looks, not the actual age of the actor. The actual age of the actor is irrelevant as long as you bought it. Dustin Hoffman was 30 in the The Graduate for example, and it worked.

That being said, yes the casting in Green Lantern and Superman Returns are examples of choices that didn't work among the actors. Though I bought Holmes with Bale more than the rest.

Adams is a great actress and I'm confident she'll do a good job. There were other actresses that I personally would have gone with, with Mary Elizabeth Winstead being at the top, if not only because they look the part more and could in theory do a more definitive take on the character. But they may be going for a different approach with Adams and there's just as much merit in doing that.
