I can't wait for the Blu ray. Seriously, I'm like Augustus Gloop outside the room of candy.

An extended cut would make me extremely happy.

I hope for impressive making-of documentaries, not only these 5-minute featurettes when cast and crew tell you only what a great time they had.

And a gag reel of course. You can see so often when the actors are joking around. And RDJ watching while he's improvising would be lmao.

I agree with you. I only buy DVDs because BRs are so expensive and I was surprise that Thor only had a single disc for the DVD, I'm a bit disappointed.

I want a 2 disk blu ray like Iron Man 2 with an in depth look at how the whole MCU has been built

I absolutely cannot wait for the Blu Ray release. 1080p, in 3D on my 65" TV is going to be incredible. I'm hoping that the audio track will be DTS HD Master Audio 7.1. I'm hoping that they will do an all out boxset of all the films that culminated into The Avengers.

Would absolutely love to see an extended cut. You can tell that even with the film as long as it was, there were quite a bit of cuts.

I'd like to see those shorts on the disc as well.

I'm all for the deleted scenes though I don't think an extended cut is necessary unless it smoothes out some of the pacing issues. Alledgedly, there's a scene where Cap visits Peggy in the modern day and that's a scene I really wanna see

As much as I loved this movie, there were CLEARLY bits that had been cut that weakened the movie. For instance, it was obvious from watching it (and has been confirmed by Ruffalo and others) that Banner has a scene with Harry Dean Stanton (the old security guard) that helps him come to terms with joining the team as The Hulk. This was absolutely essential to his arc and is my single biggest problem with the film. He just shows up in the middle of the battle and turns into Good Hulk, no problem. It needed more buildup.

Also, you can never have enough Harry Dean Stanton in your movie.

Please Joss, and Marvel, give us a version with this character stuff re-integrated.

I think with Whedon's track record -- a gag reel will be included. There were gag reels on the Buffy, Angel, and Dollhouse releases, as well as one for Serenity.

I don't really need an exhaustive making-of documentary. Two commentaries (first having Whedon solo, the second pairing Whedon up with the cast members), a gag reel, and a 20 minute making-of would be fine with me. Including the theatrical trailer(s) would be a nice touch as well.

And judging from the theatrical-to-home video window, we'll get the DVD and Blu-ray in September (even with the phenomenal box-office it's been getting).

I doubt there will be an extended cut since Joss Wheadon said his directors cut is the cut in the cinemas but it would be cool if they did what James Cameron did and put some of the cut material back into the film. However given that the incredible hulk didn't even get a longer cut and that was a movie that would have only benefited from it I don't think they will go that route for the avengers.

Avengers is a much bigger film in all ways than TIH though and Marvel&Disney will know people will go crazy and buy an Extended Cut!

Yeah, maybe it's wishful thinking, but it seems like an extended cut blu-ray, for a movie that just took a Cleveland Steamer on Harry Potter's record, would be money in the bank for Disney/Marvel.

And no matter what Joss says, I find it hard to believe that he wouldn't like to put back a couple of the scenes that would really fill out the story. Not all 30 minutes of material, but at least a couple of scenes that would fix some of the undeniable issues with the character development.

I'd love to see the extended cut.

Also as someone mentioned there should be a feature on how these movies came together and one that explores the Avengers history in comics.

I think we're gonna get the standard DVD/Blu-ray/Digital copy release in september and then when X-mas rolls around we're going to get the Extended edition/ MCU boxsets. I already own all the movies but if they re-release them as a special edition boxset ala Harry Potter, I will GLADLY give Marvel and Disney my $100 or however much money it costs.

Yeah they'll likely do it But it sure would be a great X-mas gift because even though I have the MCU on blu-ray..I'd love an anthology boxset like with Alien/Jurassic Park/Superman steel case collection/Star Wars/etc!

Exactly, and since this film will likely gross a billion in the box office, i'm sure they'll pimp out the home video releases. Although....as enormous as the Dark Knight was, the dvd/blu ray release was very lackluster. There were barely any extras or anything, you'd think Warner would've taken advantage of that.
