Epic man even if it's mostly Cap stuff, I wonder if there were an extra Action scenes from the final battle taken out as well?

There has to be, we've seen some footage that was already taken out.

Hey wait, that article's wrong. The source it uses says nothing about an extended cut, only that there will be 30 minutes of deleted scenes. ;/

I would like an extended cut and a theatrical version on the blu ray release. Of course extensive documentaries and commentaries would be much appreciated. Any other creative little treats they could throw on the discs would be the icing.

I'd imagine we'll be getting an extended cut. I have faith in Whedon.

It's strange because... if the Cap footage ends up in the extended cut, it'll become MCU canon. Then the question is, how much of this topic do we touch upon again in CA2? This is why I don't think they'll even mess with it.

Unless they've already got plans not to touch upon it more in CA2, then I could see that. But who knows...

Maybe not those Cap scenes but some of the other stuf could make it like the full Banner/Security Guard scene

Yeah, I could see that. Including all the action in the final sequence too, perhaps?

It's just that when you click the source it shows the article it took it from and it only confirms the 30 minutes of deleted scenes not that they'll be re-inserted into a 3-hour long movie. I say we PETITION to Joss Whedon to release a full length 3-hour edition of The Avengers. It's not out of the question, if the fans demand it...I know he won't pull a George Lucas. Give us what we want Joss!
My main beef with the movie was the lack of Captain America getting used to the 21st century...

Extended Cut > Deleted Scenes.

Don't be lame now, Marvel .

I've said it before and I'll say it again:

The cut scene that Ruffalo shares with Harry Dean Stanton(old security guard), that OBVIOUSLY was meant to be the bridge of Banner's character arc, shouldn't even be considered a 'deleted scene'. Upon my first and only viewing of the movie, it was so glaringly obvious that a scene was cut---that I wasn't alone in thinking some kind of mistake was made in the editing room. I didn't even know anything about a deleted scene between the security guard and Banner before the movie. It was obvious that SOMETHING WAS MISSING.

It should be considered a MAJOR *****-UP that it was cut from the movie in the first place. The abbreviation of Hulk's character arc is THE major flaw in the movie and really needs to be fixed. I can live without the extra Cap stuff if I have to, but that Banner scene HAS to be re-introduced or I will be royally pissed.

Joss and Marvel came so close-- I really love most of the movie but the confusion over Banner's character arc nearly ruined it for me. And it's so easy to fix!

I cannot wait to own this on Blu-ray.

I could go for some stuff on bridging the medium from comics and film for the characters.

Am I reading it wrong or...?

It says it'll feature an extended cut...

Quote:
The Avengers Blu-Ray will feature Whedon’s director’s cut, which adds 30 minutes to the 2 hour and 22 minute theatrical cut. Most of the new footage apparently concerns Captain America, whose pathos at being shuffled into the 21st Century was mostly put aside in order for him to look ridiculous in that suit and for some shield throwing.

Is 30 minutes a good amount for extra footage?

The only source for that article features Joss Whedon talking about 30 minutes of deleted footage. Deleted. Nowhere does he say it'll be featured in an extended cut. So basically, the author made it up. Even outside of that, this Travis Woods guy is clearly a moron. Other than having idiotic opinions, he didn't even proof read his article.

And I just read an interview with Joss Whedon where he said his director's cut was the one released in theaters.
