Yea, the best scenes of TDK were the talky moments. The interrogation scene. Joker corrupting Dent in the hospital.

Those sorta scenes, brilliant as they are, would probably be lost on kids.

This is the best year ever for superhero movies. Try and enjoy the ride.
I think it's going to outdo the year of TDK/Iron Man/TIH which has been the high point for me so far.

Don't forget Hellboy 2. That was awesome and severely underrated. That just got completely trampled by TDK in 2008.

Avengers has one or two unpleasant scenes for kids but if you've seen it before and know when to cover up I would take a very young kid. (As long as they can cope with Helicarrier mad Hulk)
Yep, those moments of philosophy are unarguably lost amongst the kids. It's not something that would reach them unless they were interested, educated or aware of Nihilism, Utilitarianism and Existentialism but thankfully (for them) the action scenes and character moments made it up for them.

So, I believe it caters to most age groups. I wouldn't take anyone younger than four though only because they would trouble shutting up or not going to the bathroom.

Yes I always forget it was the same year. Excellent film. Wow that kind of evens it up a little.

Even if you factor out the extra $ from 3-D the Avengers still would have made $175-180M. TDK adjusts to $172M. Do you think TDKR will sell more tickets OW than TDK did? I'm skeptical. TDKR can totally beat TDK unadjusted but adjusted is another story.

I think it certainly can. I'm still a bit skeptical but if this movie is as emotional, inspiring and awesome as some are claiming it is from the CinemaCon footage and the private screenings... then watch out.

They're all stating that Nolan has topped TDK.

Yeah... I'm gonna stick by my prediction.

The Avengers will be the highest grossing film of the summer.

I don't know about that.

My then-10 year old cousin is pretty dumb (no, seriously), plus he has ADD to boot, and he actually comprehended most of the main themes in Inception quite well. And that movie was as confusing philosophically - if not moreso - than TDK.

I was just chechking the WIKI page of all the IMAX releases in 2012.
IMAX movies are exclusive in that only movie will be shown on the screens...at least in the states.
Meaning that Avengers has the IMAX screens till thursday after which Dark Shadows will play for 2 weeks till MIB-3 opens.

Dark Shadows seems a waste on IMAX (still want to see it though).

Dunno about that Burton is very much a visual director and i'd love to see his wacky creations in IMAX.
At least it doesn't have to compete with Avengers for screens as this is a 2-d movie.

if studios would be smart they could find a solution how to have movies in imax and 3D theaters without losing money. its not normal that 3 movies need imax theaters in 1 month.

i think if we would get 3 big movies in one summer that all 3 could make a big profit.

I bet the IMAX guys are gonna be real pissed when they gotta let TA go after friday. They're basically being forced to kiss off millions that they would otherwise have made.

They need to open more screens then. Including one that's closer than two hours away from me.

That wouldn't do anything. IMAX can only feature 1 film at any particular time from what I've heard.

Its so dumb that Avengers is only spending a week in IMAX. The screens would make more money playing Avengers on its second and third weeks than Dark Shadows would on its first two weeks. Just dumb business there.

Yea but when you have a deal there's nothing that could be done. Avatar was still making money on IMAX even months after opening but they had to give it up.

I agree, that's why I bet the IMAX guys are going to look for any loop-hole to get TA back into IMAX if possible.

Maybe but they are booked throughout the summer until TDKR which gets it for a good amount of time, since there isn't anything else listed until October. So it doesn't look like they'll be able to squeeze them in.

I think I might even prefer 2D IMAX with 3D still being a sub par product. In 2D I can fully appreciate the size of the screen and everything is 100% clear.

Possibly but if there's a way to do it, they'll find it.
