You should have seen this when TA hit the theaters. All main actors were on the list with Chris on top. Terrific!

I went to see SWATH on the weekend. Muddy Grubby Huntsman is almost as dishy as Muddy Grubby Thor. Not a brilliant movie, but it was fine and the role certainly won't do his star power any harm.

Very much agreed. Not a great movie, but I enjoyed it a lot. Foremost for Muddy Grubby Huntsman. And he's getting a lot of attention for it, which is good.

That July GQ feature ain't gonna hurt, either.

What I find interesting about Chris as an emerging major action-movie star is that on the one hand, he's the quintessential action-guy -- built like a brick wall, very tall, athletic -- and on the other, four of his recent, high-profile genre roles have involved him not just being the square-jawed action hero, but have called on him to get really emotional and cry.

For that list, I'm counting "Star Trek 09" (not a big role by any means, but everybody noticed it, and he had the audience in tears in the first 10 minutes of the movie, so a great debut), "Thor", "Avengers" (more subtle, but he does shed some tears in the scene where Loki drops him in the cage), and SWATH. For all I know, the list could be higher, since I haven't seen Cabin, or his other earlier films.

It's nice to see films taking advantage of his acting versatility, as well as his looks and physique.


*(I say "emerging" because I don't think we quite have proof yet that he can headline a movie and be a box-office draw by himself. Avengers was an ensemble, and while plenty of people went to see SWATH perhaps partly because of him, I don't think we can say he was the main reason people went to see it.)

Quite a few people ( okay, females) have said they didn't quite understand the phwoar factor about Chris until SWATH. Never underestimate the power of Muddy Grubby!

If Thor spends all his time in his next movie wallowing in grime whilst flexing his muscles then he'll make a bazillion!

Agreed. It's way better to do good acting in a bad movie than act badly in a good movie. The SWATH script was rubbish, but he was good and his teary scene was great. The boy can emote!

I don't know that there's any way to measure exactly. Even established movie stars aren't always big draws all that much by themselves anymore the way they maybe once were. But he's doing pretty well for himself.

The interesting thing will be Thor 2. With Hemsworth and Hiddleston both being stars now, and popular with the ladies, that movie could draw a big audience.

Nobody went to see Thor because of Chris Hemsworth because virtually nobody knew who he was at that point. Now he has a bit of a name for himself and has had a few starring turns onscreen there's more of a test to see if people will go to see a movie simply because he's in it.

Doesn't change the fact that he still headlined a successful movie at the box office, I couldn't careless if he wasn't the reason.

A Marvel Comic Book Movie - "From the studio that brought you Iron Man"

Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins

A funny critic who said: A movie that's fun with a Shakespearean touch. The main actor give a good performance, is completely underchallenged but looks very adorable. Oscar winner Natalie Portman looks awesome too, but has also nothing to do actorwise.

Certainly I didn't went to see Chris "who is this". lol.
