You do know it is possible for there to be two ass-kicking agents right? I mean, I'd prefer two on my team instead of one.

If there would be a redundancy, they should just leave Black Widow out.

Or, you know, who's to say they would have to be working together?

I frankly really doubt she'll be relegated to a non-active role. Seems like a demotion, and the trend for female characters is to take a step-up rather than down, if they are changed.

Where do you come up with this cherokeesam? Do you have the inside track at Marvel and the Russos?

Did having Maria Hill make Black Widow redundant?

Again, Vile, it's called "speculation"...(it's what we do around here on SHH.) Try looking it up in the dictionary sometime....

No, because Widow is a field agent, while Maria Hill is an executive officer. It's like the difference between 007 and M, if M was wearing a sexy black jumpsuit. And maybe Sharon Carter is being reworked to be someone like Q, only more active, with bigger boobs, and in a sexy black (or white) jumpsuit.

But that's just spec....specu....specula.....what's the word for it again....?

Before Iron Man 2, Scarlet Johansson wasn't exactly known for playing roles that required her to do much action either. Give Kendrick a chance if she gets the role. I'm sure whoever gets cast as Sharon is going to have to do massive amounts of fight choreography training.

Agreed; She's a talented actress, but if she wasn't famous, and I bumped into her at a supermarket, I wouldn't give her a second glance.

Regardless of their ages, all 3 of these actresses look about college-aged to me, and in no way like SHIELD agents. They all just look a little young for that, imo.

That said, just looking at it as a shortlist of actresses, I think it's a great list. They're all good. But I have to say, I'm most intrigued by the thought of seeing Evans' chemistry with Kendrick. I think her energy would be a great contrast to his low key, old-fashioned vibe. They could be fun together, and VERY different from his dynamic with Peggy, which would probably be a good thing.

No disrespect to Kendrick as I liked her in Up in the Air and 50/50, but she's not the right fit for Sharon Carter. That height difference pic is pretty appalling no less. Hopefully they're casting her in a different role, but definitely should not be a love interest in any sort of way.

I wish they can find someone who looks like Maggie Grace but can actually act. She has the right look, just not enough talent.

I prefer casting with talent over looks. Many an actor or actress has convinced me they were the character even though they didn't look the part. Case in point - every actor in The Hunger Games movie.

I feel like they're going for a a very specific personality for Sharon in the movie, something to present a stark contrast with Steve's personality. I could see Kendrick bringing a very different edge and energy to the movie, basically what Flickchick said. Also, much needed for me, personally, as I find Sharon rather bland at times in the comics.

I really don't see what the issue is with a shorter, younger Sharon anyway? It's not like her age is relevant

And I agree, I think we'll get a bubbly Sharon and a sassy Falcon to help Cap break out of his shell a bit

Gotta say, I just saw her in Bachelorette yesterday and was reminded just how underrated an actress she is. She'd probably do a great job with this role. But she's also about a decade older than the actresses being considered, so maybe they WANT Sharon to seem young for some reason.

Sharon should look like woman in belongs in the field and not someone for Captain America to have sex with. Widow has covered the role of a woman who doesn't look like a fighter. But let's not have that be every single female.

Sharon is supposed to be a formidable and experienced field agent. None of those ladies look like they're old enough to give off that vibe.

Now the same could be said for Black Widow, but Black Widow is all about being being something she doesn't look like, and she has the excuse of being trained from childhood to do what she does.

Sure, they change her into being the inexperienced rookie, but that's not a dynamic I desire seeing. If that will be the case, then it is a shame that the first movie can have a '40s woman with her **** together and then her descendant, a modern woman, can be the generic love interest who doe little but get rescued.

I seriously doubt these ladies are being considered for Sharon Carter. I think they are casting Sin (daughter of the Red Skull). Look up a picture of Sharon Carter and then look up a picture of Sin. You will see a huge physical difference. I still think they'll bring back Hayley as Sharon, in some capacity.

Sharon Carter is portrayed as a strapping warrior woman and these are very girlish looking, petite women. It simply doesn't fit that this is the casting for Sharon.

So short, young women can only be rescued? There's no other potential way to write an arc for a short, young woman?

"Sorry guys, this woman's short and young. Clearly she's useless and will be kidnapped"

I also have no idea what you're talking about in regards to Black Widow. She has always looked like and been a badass.

Amen. Since when does a woman have to look like an Amazon to be a spy or spec ops? Better watch some women in MMA, or better yet, take a look at some female combat veterans.

Not a chance in hell that it's Sin. I seriously doubt MS is ready to bring Skully back yet --- maybe a teaser for CA3 --- and if/when he *does* come back, he's a long, long way from having a grown daughter. I'd say the likelihood of Sin showing up in the MCU is currently 1,500 to 1.

Plus, there's the whole matter of the article referring to the character as the "female lead." Not villain.

I'm sorry, but where is the rule requirement that says if you're playing a woman who works for a spy agency, you have to look like an Amazon warrior to be believably badass? Does anyone say that about Clark Gregg? The entire cast of Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy?? It seems easier for people to believe that near about any man could believably take on a spy role or work for a spy agency in a movie, but a woman has to jump through hoops to fit a certain mold. Also, if you watch any of the British spy shows, like MI-5 or Prime Suspect, the females there are very believable characters thanks to the writing and acting, not because of their appearance. Although Helen Mirren is very beautiful IMO, and easily conveys badass... but probably moreso thanks to her acting.

So I say "bollocks" that these actresses can't pull off the MCU's version of Sharon Carter, who might have a different skill set than the comics version.

Don't make her a love interest right away.

Have her as someone working for the big bad. Cap is intrigued by her due to her resemblance to Peggy so he gets swept up in the movie's main plot. But his interest is never romantic.

Maybe have Sharon attracted to him, but nothing comes of it. They end the movie with her, Steve and Sam (gotta have Sam) as bros.

Then in the third movie, have them fall in love toward the end.

And I think Hayley Atwell should play her. Her resemblance to Peggy is pretty important, it is her resemblance to Peggy that makes him notice her in her first appearance as she's walking down the street, undercover. He only learns they're related much, much later in the comics. and to have some other actress, be she Cornish, Righetti or whoever referred to as resembling Peggy makes it look creepier, not less.

Otherwise just nix the familial relationship altogether. Carter is a pretty common name, so it could just be an odd, awkward and uncomfortable coincidence, or alternatively, call her Sharon Ferguson or give her some other last name.

Also, Hayley Atwell passes the jean and tee shirt test, so there's that.

100% agree with all this!

also, why does STEVE have to go after Sharon? what if,as you said,Sharon is attracted to Steve, but he wants no part of it initially due to the resemblance, and her familial relationship to Peggy. as the movie ( or movies) go on Steve starts to see her strength, her intelligence, and finally allows himself to see her beauty. and then eventually he falls for HER,based upon HER strengths, not based upon longing for Peggy.

so ,yeah,Steve notices her at first for her resembalnce, and relationship, to his lost love. but he falls in love with Sharon Carter in spite of himself, not the spectre of Peggy Carter.

Notice how I said nothing about height.

All I ever referred to is a their apparent youthfulness. And yes, it matters that they all look like they're in college. What else am I supposed to expect of the MCU version if not that she's being made to be younger, and therefore, less experienced?

Perhaps too, part of the reason that these actresses look young is due to the roles they've taken on. Kendrick is still working on the Twilight series, Jones played a college student in Like Crazy. I haven't seen Poots in anything yet.

On the red carpet, Kendrick, to me, looks older. Makeup and wardrobe can also do wonders for appearance.
