This could be the best thing about the show
I don't see wrong in them sharing place with Peter and his aunt, I like Spider-Man & His Amazing Friends, and this part could be the best thing this show has to offer

Okay, I finally got around to watching some of this show (thank you Netflix).
Wow. This is BAD. I have 3 people in my house who watch television, myself (King Comic-Nerd), my wife (Reluctant wife of a comic book-nerd), and my daughter (Child) age4. I can give you all three opinions on this show: ME: I loved SSM, which biased me against the show from the get-go. Still, I watched it intently hoping for the best. Liked the animation a LOT. Very fluid, nice character design, not as stylized or "cool" as Spectacular, but maybe more consistent. That's about all the positive I have for it. I made it through the Venom episode before I called it quits. This feels like a "Ben 10" or something. Spider-Man's constant breaking of the fourth wall to explain things as opposed to them actually writing a story in which things are explained, well it's annoying. When Venom came out of the toilet, I was beyond ready to go. My wife: She LOVED the animation. Said it was far better than SSM. She loved the look and the feel...but hated everything else. She asked me by episode 2 "Why does he have to talk to the camera every 10 seconds?! Do they think people are that stupid"? She left the room at that point. I haven't seen her since! (Kidding...she came back....eventually) My daughter: Now, Gwen is the key demographic: A child. She should love this! She should be crazy about this show! She didn't like it. She loves SSM, but has also enjoyed the 90s show, Spider-friends, and every other incarnation she has seen. By the third episode, I asked her if she liked it. She told me she would rather watch the Spider-man and Gwen show (SSM), or the one with Firestar(Spider-Friends), or the one where Peter and Mary Jane got married (90s). She said she didn't like this one. I asked why, and she said she just didn't like it. Now, I'm not going to start knocking this show to those who love it, you are welcome to love it! Me...I'll wait until its inevitable cancellation after season 2 (Marvel's SOP), and then hope the next bout works out better for the wall crawler.

I'm thinking of watching a few episodes of Spectacular Spider-Man on Monday again to ring in the season 2 premiere of Ultimate Spider-Man and get good and depressed knowing that show's getting 52 episodes just like that.

That just proves Marvel Animation is letting marketing dictate their shows rather than letting the creative teams have free reign at them. I don't like how Loeb is running Marvel Television and I really hope that mentality doesn't bleed into SHIELD.

Urgh... That's all I got. I hope it won't be too many years before we see a good Marvel cartoon again.

Sadly, as long as Loeb and Quesada are in charge, I don't think that's gonna happen.

I think Batman: TAS is the furthest thing from his mind. Yes, they were largely one-shot episodes but they have an artistic value that USM doesn't even begin to touch. Look at TSSM, that had one-shot episodes while also still feeding into a bigger plot. It was brilliantly done. Damn Loeb, I want to like you but everything you say just makes me doubt you more. |

The thing about Batman TAS is that while it had one shot episodes, it was ground breaking because of the atmosphere and the level of quality. There's a difference between being for kids, and being overly childish, simplistic, full of dumb comedy, and basically written for 4 year olds exclusively.
Most 90s Disney shows were episodic, however there's Gargoyles. That show had TONS of continuity. Each episode of the second started out with a "Previously on" which showed clips from past episodes that led up to events that were about to happen in the episode that was about to air. For instance, in one episode Owen mentions the Emir to Xanatos. When people first see that episode, they probably didn't think too much of that line. However later on the Emir appears in the Avalon Tour Egypt episode. Quote:

DC would at least never shut down a live-action movie just because "it sounds too intelligent" or anything like that. They just can't figure out how to portray their characters well on film but at least they're somewhat trying. They do rush their movies sometimes (example: Green Lantern and the upcoming JL movie) but they only do that when they feel pressure and competition from Marvel and fear not catching up to them. They would never throw away something that proved to be very successful. Marvel in animation is a completely different case. Shows like TSSM and Avengers EMH have proven that a Marvel show can be on the same quality as DC's best animated shows yet Marvel says they're too intelligent and mature for kids because they have story arcs and are not aimed at 3 year old's like USM is. Marvel is basically self-destructing themselves and shuts down every chance they have at catching up to DC in animation, which is the case with Avengers EMH and TSSM. And yes, I know that TSSM was mainly cancelled due to Sony returning the rights but let's be realistic - if TSSM started at Marvel to begin with, it would've still been cancelled to make way for USM, since Marvel just said that mature shows with ongoing story arcs are not the direction they want to go in. So from now on, whenever DC puts out something stupid in live-action, say to yourselves "Wow, they suck at live-action stuff but at least they're not as stupid as Marvel is when it comes to animation".

And it's worse to know Loeb (or was it someone else?) said; "This show is meant to be funny, not for children"

^ They actually said that? I admit some instances are funny but it beats you over the head with attempts at slap stick.
