Anybody think there has to be more to what Aang is trying to say to Korra in that flashback? Because previously whenever Aang had one of the spiritual journey things Roku was always there to tell him but this time we're just hearing what Korra is saying.

All she comes to is that Tarrlok is Yakone's son. I mean narrative wise that just doesn't make sense since they been teased for so long and it gets resolved within the same episode. Now that Tarrlok has lost his bending the flashback doesn't matter anymore.

Operative phrase there being "...this time we're just hearing what Korra is saying". There's no guarantee that her initial interpretation is correct or that there isn't a deeper meaning to it. Some viewers and reviewers have already caught on to this possibility.

Ep. 9 spoiler discussion

Spoiler!!! Click to Read!:
Asami was with Mako and the rest while Korra was fighting so there goes that idea of her being Amon. Tarrlok was way too obviously bad from the beginning so I never suspected him of anything other than being a bad dude.

As for the flashbacks, I don't really care all that much but then again I'm not a fan of TLAB.

The Yakone/Tarrlok storyline just has to be connected to Amon and the Equalists in some way. There's no way that it would be wrapped up so swiftly. And it doesn't make any sense for her to just randomly have had flashbacks about Yakone when she was facing Amon, in previous episodes. I guess you could say it was because she was in those situations because of Tarrlok, but it would still seem cheap to me.

I thought she had not actually contacted Aang, merely tapped into a kinda relevant memory he was trying to convey. I don't understand how these flashbacks can be considered irrelevant now that Tarlok is neutralized. Aang's ability to remove bending was reiterated with Amon's fight with Tarlok. I r confoozzled

I hope she goes into the Spirit World and meets Aang this week. I was hoping for that this week and seeing Aang take over her body as Roku did in the last series.

That's a good point. Though really, they should have set him up for the next season. It just seems rushed period. Unless they just wanted to show off how cool Amon was by showing him taking down Tarrlok so easily.

I personally think it is quite awesome the finale is happening the week of the summer solstice. I honestly expect Korra not to 'talk' with Aang or any past life until then.

What perfect timing for this show to be honest. I wonder if it will be the Summer Solstice on the show as well.

Has anyone come up with a reason Tarrlok might just happen to have a metal box type prison cell in his basement?

Didn't Republic City just go through Winter?

Also, actually thats a good point. Wasn't the Spirits more active during the Solstice periods?

Maybe that's his safe and he cleared it out in the off chance he might need to run away. Or maybe he had it made in preparation of the possibility of Korra getting in his way or to secretly imprison Amon so as to maintain the illusion of a continued Equalist threat. Or maybe he's just into kinky stuff.

Yea it slipped my mind that it has been snowing in episodes, silly me.

Recent episode spoilers:
Spoiler!!! Click to Read!:

One thing that has been on my mind that people seem to not be talking about in most Korra fandom is that in the flashback Aang took away that criminal's bending, just like Amon does. No light show, no fanfare. They imply in his vision that Amon really can Energybend.
I personally think that is one of the things Aang is trying to convey to Korra.

Here's a question.

What would get you guys ticked off about Amon's reveal?

If he is Aang's son Bumi. Just because he is a non bender doesn't mean he should be the bad guy.

That is really the only thing I am really scared of as to who he is. I personally think he is telling the truth and he is just a random guy seeking revenge with the help of a spirit that thinks that the Avatar's role is broken. Korra just needs to prove him wrong.

His whole backstory of being attacked by a firebender and he wears a mask because of it, I find very skeptical. But yea Bumi would be the a terrible choice and contradict so much of what they did with Sokka's character in the previous series.

Pretty much what Tanin says. I extend that sentiment to the hypothetical "Tarrlok's brother".

Aang too. Also someone mentioned the creators might pull a "Buffy". I actually had to look that up and what they meant was that Aang technically died twice. The first in Ba Sing Se and his 2nd final death. Some speculate that a pseudo-Avatar was born after Aang's first death.

I doubt the details of his back story are true. He would never say anything to anyone that may give away whom he really is under the mask. Though with Republic City being a fine nation colony in the Earth Kingdom it appears a lot of people's parents were killed by Fire Benders. Too many if you ask me :/

I don't see any reason to doubt Amon's claims.

How do I put this...I think I mentioned that its a statistical thing. For example, and I know I'm stretching here but if you watch The Wire, you'll notice there are a lot of African American people in the city of Baltimore. As such, the statistics of there being more African American criminals are higher than say Caucasians not because all white guys are law-abiding citizens but because there are just more black guys.

Maybe the same logic applies to Republic City.

I don't want Amon to be a disgruntled relative of anybody. He just needs to be a guy who's life was seriously screwed up by bending.

Also, when is Pema gonna have her freaking baby?

End of Season 2 most likely.

Also, I want the final episode of the series to be Titled: Avatar Korra

I was just thinking of that today and how much I liked that the last episode of the first series was Avatar Aang.

I honestly want Korra to surpass Aang in greatness. I mean, she's destined for it, having Aang along with all their previous lives combined. I feel like her story parallels Zuko's more than Aang's. Once she finds herself, Korra is going to be a legendary avatar.

Aang ended a century-long world war, and saved the entire Earth Kingdom (and helped save the Water Tribe). At the age of... well, very young. Unless aliens invade, or the world of Avatar faces a second world war, she'll never surpass Aang.

The Title was symbolic as was that entire episode. The Hundred Years war started with an Avatar and a Fire Lord. It ended with an Avatar and a Fire Lord. It represented the cycle coming full circle and Aang's status as a fully-realized Avatar.

And I agree, Korra really has the makings of a great Avatar.
