It's a tie actually...
Eiji Yoshikawa's Musashi ( not the english version, i remember the asian version is like 6 or 7 books in total) and James Clavell's Shogun When i was a kid, both were pretty popular. Read 'em both countless times. It's been years since i read them now though. |

It was the mini series that got me reading the book though. I've re-read the book fairly recently, but i haven't watched the mini in a looong time...so i can't really remember if it's faithfull or accurate... Does the scene where Blackthorne got...pee'd on also in the tv series? that was pretty sick.. Or when They boiled one of his crew alive... |

Both those scenes are in the miniseries. I've seen several different versions. The first time the series ran, there was no narration...so the viewer felt like Chamberlain, and learned as he did. But many people complained about that...and so later all showings were now narrated by Orson Wells. There was also an extremely shortened version put out on VHS tape....it was cut down to around two and a half hours. I still have a copy of that around here somewhere. I had had the whole series recorded on tape for years....but a while back it came out on DVD, and I have that now.

![]() That made me wanna see the mini again! There are a lot scenes from the book that i would love to see on the mini too. Like maybe the process of Blackthorne trying to learn the Japanese language and their customs with the death threat hanging over his head...hope they show some of that on the mini too. Hmm..i didnīt know that theyīve had different versions of the adaptation. I think iīll go to the local vid store.See if they have the DVD set.I didnīt even knew that there is a DVD set out. Thanks for the tip! |

When I bought the DVD set it was pretty high....but you can find the whole set now for right around $20. Not bad for a 12 hour series.
At one time, I had posters and banners for it's full version VHS release (nice shots of Chamberlain and Mifune)...think I still may have them packed away somewhere. It's been a lot longer now since the last time I read the book...but from what I remember, most scenes made it in one way or another. One of the few redeeming things about the shortened tape release was....it had a nude scene with Mariko that wasn't in any of the American versions of the full length series. The mini series was the first time I saw John Rhys-Davies in anything (he didn't show up in Raiders until the next year) and he was great as Rodrigues.

Is it weird to put ice in milk? Because I have always drank milk with an ice cube, and my roommates think this is weird.

My Dad does that. I don't like it cause it waters down the milk. To answer your question though I do think it's a little weird.

I put ice in everything except beer. If my milk is not frigid or I just picked some up from the store, I put ice in it.

I cannot do warm milk. Or warm water.
Actually I can barely drink cold water. I just don't like the taste of water at all.

You can yard sale them, find a local flea market and set up a table, sell on the net (via ebay, ioffer, etc....), take it all to a place like HALF PRICE BOOKS and sell it to them....

I put some up on ebay to see how it goes. I may end up having to go to Half Price.

I sold a bunch of comics years ago when comics were probably more sought after, and the people at the comic book store, pretty much picked through the stuff and offered like 25-30% of what they were actually worth.
I sold a bunch of TPBs a few months ago on Ebay and they were a little better but not really.
