Spoiler!!! Click to Read!:
I’m a visual effects supervisor for the upcoming film After.Earth, the M. Night picture. I’ve also done work on Avatar, Iron Man, and Sin City. I’m on IMDb. I’ll admit I check my own page from time to time. It feels good.

I frequent this board often, I’m a huge comic book fan (as shown by the movies I’ve worked on). Last night at a VFX conference there was a sizzle reel shown by Weta. In this sizzle reel there were two beta level(most likely from a trailer) clips shown. One only about 6 seconds long, the other much longer.

The former was Clark Kent grabbing a truck with a crying man inside of it while flying through the middle of a tornado. It looked incredible. Henry Cavill can fly, and he can hold a truck in one arm. Zack Snyder brings his usual visual flair, but somehow is still unlike anything he has made before. It felt like a Superman comic. Real heroism.

The longer clip was even more stunning, but the more I think about it, slightly concerning. The clip consisted of Superman in full costume in a verbal argument with Zod in the center of Smallville with Christopher Meloni yells at them through a megaphone next to a tank. Meloni warns them he will fire if they do not surrender. While he says this Zod sizes Superman up. Shannon looks evil as he can be. Bone chilling even. And is DEFINITELY sporting enhanced muscle. Cavill’s Superman is a wonderful sight to behold in motion. Cavill’s pure size makes him the most believable Superman to date. Zod speaks in Kryptonian “Do you know your native tongue, Kal-el?” Superman looks stunned, and responds in English, “Who are you?” (there isn’t enough Superman dialogue to judge Cavill’s performance fairly, but I’d say he did well. Nothing spectacular from this clip.) Meloni curses, then into a walkie talkie orders the tank to fire. Superman hears this and turns to the tank. Zod takes this opportunity to sucker punch Superman(in Zack Snyder slow-then-fast-mo) then when the tank fires Superman rushes in front of Zod, despite the punch and catches the exploding missile near his stomach. The flames ripple around him, hit his face, his cape, his eyes. The shrapnel hits him and bounces off. The same happens to Zod to a lesser extent. Meloni’s shocked expression when they remain standing, silhouettes in a cloud of smoke, ends the clip.

zack-snyder-man-of-steel-supermanIt was incredible, it really was. And absolutely visually stunning, but my qualm is its typical Zack Snyder. It doesn’t look glossy like his films do. It instead has a more clean cut, colorful look. Like Thor, or Iron Man. But it is the same slow-mo styling that people expect from him. Maybe it just happens in this one scene, but it happens twice. Makes me a bit hesitant, despite the fact it looks phenomenal. - IMDB
this sounds awesome if true!

If the writers and producers were attached to the Green Lantern fiasco, then there's a good chance that their involvement with Flash has been halted and their script has been thrown out.

Could be, but id like to think they would see the difference between the Flash script and Green Lantern. Im pretty sure they would take their idea at the least and try to improve on it and find some better writers and a director

If they were smart, no. The Green Lantern script was borrowing aspects from Iron Man. I believe the new writers should be creative and start from scratch. The last thing I want is for Flash to go the way of Green Lantern.

I love how you brought up the Antarctica and Mars scenes, which are built on isolation, as an example of the world feeling big, real and populated. In really did fill me with a sense of glee and justice.

They were my favorite scenes of the movie. The Vietnam and apartment scenes, I'll concede felt condensed.

Wasn't it mentioned months back that a 'MOS' teaser would debut with 'Rises'? I thought it was confirmed already?

The script could have been terrible but the idea of mixing a crime thriller like Se7en with Matrix elements for a DC superhero film, sounds pretty unique to me. And nothing like possibly "going the way of Green Lantern". Unless they're straight up B.S'ing. If i was them i'd hire new writers too but i wouldnt start from scratch, id keep the concept of that guys draft and take it to another place.

But they do not help your argument in the least bit and in fact lend themselves to what I have been saying the entire time.

And then you admit my point with your final words.

MoS isn't a lock until the prints get shipped out... but it is the current plan.

One thing is for sure. After Nolan's Bat franchise ends on July 20. The next truly HUGE movie from their side, will be SUUUPERMAN! I imagine that this film will be gigantic! Just like 'Rises'. Seeing Superman reborn from scratch, in all new fashion will be a sight to behold, I have no doubt.

No, they don't. I also favored the Comedian-Night Owl riot, Alley Fight, and Prison scenes very much so. They were executed and shot perfectly.

Every film has several condensed scenes, please.

Gill, any news on when more stills would be coming? I want more stills from the film. Also, any word on when high-quality versions of existing stills would arrive? Is their a clear date or do they just come anytime?

Thanks for the clarification, Gill.

Are there still plans for the prologue being released officially? AFAIK we've seen a re-release of TDK/BB on Amazon and various other sites but there's nothing to state it has the prologue attatched.

It's evident that Flash will carry a Crime-Drama/Sci-Fi feel to the film, especially if they use Barry Allen (which they will). I say let the new writers start anew and come up with better concepts.
