Yeah, it's bad news. Paramont doesn't like the film period.

Something definitely stinks here.

But yeah, it seems like Jon Chu has NO say, and this will affect the film for sure. Especially part 3. I do hope that maybe Scarlett can come back in one form or another. We shall see. But this is bad news. It shows that Paramont has no faith in the film because moving a film a month away from it's release is NOT normal.
I agree about them losing faith, if you notice they didn't move the film to next summer, they moved it to March.

This is a really strange move by Paramount. If they were worried about competition, they should know that March 2013 has some pretty big movies as well with Elysium, Oz: The Great and Powerful, Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters, Jack the Giant Killer, and The Host. This seems like a pretty stupid move, especially with all the money spent on marketing.

Problem with this is that the Rock is quite busy at the moment. Shooting Pain and Gain, then Fast Six, then Hercules, and then possibly Lobo.

How do they do this if indeed they want to put Tatum back into the film?
They could use a stand-in for the Rock and just have the focus on other characters, they could use other characters and have Rock's character somewhere else, they could go to where he is and film something quick or have him come there on one of his days off and film something quick.

Via digital effects, this could happen. Peter Jackson used something similar to this at points during the Rings Trilogy.

I don't think they're gonna just add Channing in the main plot, but rather, put him out of commission for the majority of the film and add him in the END at the last battle scene.

Kinda like what Fox should have done if they had the time for Cyclops in X-Men: The Last Stand, instead of unemotionally killing him off. Channing is now big bucks; why kill him?

I dont think any of those are a big threat. At/especially compared to what GI Joe was going up against during this summer.

Still a bad decision

This **** is utterly ridiculous. Seriously, a month before release Paramount? STUPID move, and I hope the movie suffers because of it... bastards.

Edit: No, I'm going to take that back. The cast, crew, and director shouldn't suffer because of what some stupid higher-ups decided. This is still a stupid move, though.

I was reading the credits at the theatre standee on the weekend and saw ILM did the vfx, so I was seriously looking forward to what they hooked up. It couldn't be that bad if they got them on board.

What a terrible decision for a summer movie to be pushed back to next year with a month before its release. Is 3D conversion really so important that they are willing to sabotage it with this postponement, and losing millions in marketing they already done? This just reeks of stupidity from the top brass over at Paramount, and unfortunately I think it is going to hurt the movie when it comes out in 2013. Now the movie will be plagued by questions regarding its delay upon its release, not whether it will actually live up to the G.I.Joe standard.

In what world does post-processed 3D take 9 months? lol clearly there's an ulterior motive here.

Didn't ILM do the Transformers movies too? A paycheck's a paycheck.

Total douchebag maneuver by the studio. G.I. Joe is dead, it won't be as big of a flop as John Carter, because of the production budget, but it will make as much money as John Carter.

Well, if they want to do a good job it could take that long. I think Titanic took more than a year to do the post-conversion.

I think that's how alot of people will view it but I think it's more about Paramount wanting to give it as much of a chance as they can.

Does anyone here really buy the 3D excuse? Seriously? It is that they either they just realized how stupid the release date was or it really is terrible. Those are the only real logical answers to this.

Lets hope they just blinked a little late, instead of it being bad.

This has got to be the stupidest move. Like others have said, if they had announced this a couple months ago... fine, okay whatever. But the month before release?!?! After I've been seeing trailers and tv spots everywhere already?! They've been marketing the hell out of this, it just reeks of stupidity! I was actually looking really REALLY forward to seeing this movie THIS summer (I mean, come on, Rock & Willis in the same film!).
