Mikkelsen was awesome in Casino Royale and he is the only reason to watch Clash of the Titans. Would be great if he joins Thor2

I agree, this would be a perfect excuse for Thor to display more powers than he did in previous films.

Yeah but what really can she do? It may be better to have Jane explore new worlds with Thor (or in the search for Thor) rather than just the whole angst 'he stole my man' sort of thing.
I wonder if having the Enchantress so early on would get in the way of a Jane-Thor-Sif love triangle. That's another good thing about having Malekith instead of the Enchantress. Plus he's a perfect villian for exploring other worlds.

Slightly off-topic but thought it was worth mentioning. Mads Mikkelsen took the Prix d'interprétation masculine (Best Actor award) for his role in Thomas Vinterberg's Jagten (The Hunt) at this year's Cannes Film Festival.

Mads just won Best Actor at Cannes for his performance in The Hunt..Marvel seemed to make this casting move during the festival which is beyond exciting, hopefully they will cast other actors that did well there..finally another cast member with an acting award besides Hopkins and Portman...

![]() I can get behind him playing Malekith but isn't Loki and Malekith kind of redundent? Two evil genius' take on Thor? I and others feel that Thor needs a physical equal. The Executioner has been written as thug but he doesn't have to be written that way in the film. The Simonson's added a quite a bit of depth to the character in their run, even made him sympathetic. So I think there is meat there for a good actor in the right hands. I really think they should go with the classic villain team-up of Loki, Enchantress and Executioner, and Mads makes a better Executioner than an Enchantress in my book He also has that haunted look in his eyes I would expect to see in Skurge's eyes.Someone throw up that pic of Skurge guarding the gates of Hell dual wielding M-16s!!! BADASSSSS!!!

Malekith could be really cool
I think the thing with Thor and the complaints that Thor needs a physical adversary.....I think that is a fair point but Thor 2 really has a chance to expand some creative minds and show us a world (or realm) unseen on TV before....I think a ho-hum executioner as the *main* bad guy would be a little lame. I wouldn't mind seeing him in it though Malekith could also be easily turned into a martial arts type expert (like all the Dark Elvs are masters of a similar-like fighting style)

Re: Mads Mikkelsen In-Talks For Villain Role
I'm thinking we'll get a Malekith Mikkelsen. *snort*. That was fun to say.

Malekith excels in sorcery much like Loki but he is a passable warrior at best even with the natural agility of his kind. This isn't Prince Nuada we're talking about here...

Well, this is the Movie-verse wouldn't mind if they do some changes to the character. They could make him a badass fighter like Nuada.

I have to disagree
. The original iteration of the Dark Elf is pretty badass with a veritable laundry list of magical powers. I fail to see how essentially turning him into a Marty Stu would be an improvement. Like any character his strengths and weaknesses are what define him. IMHO his overall personality should be kept as-is, his look and background story can be changed a bit to fit in better with the movieverse. The less he is like Nuada (or Algrim for that matter) the better.

Kevin Feige has just debunked the rumor of Thanos being in Thor 2 saying a "major new antagonist" would be the baddie. If this is the role Mads is up for he's likely talking about Malekith or Surtur. As Hemsworth stated they'd be using "a bigger fish" than Thanos. Skurge, the trolls and other supporting villains don't seem to fit here. What do you guys think?

Great actor and thought his performance in Valhalla Rising was excellent even though the film itself was a mess. I think he will be the Dark Elf in Thor 2 and snatch the Casket of Ancient Winters to hopefully set up Surtur at the end for Thor 3.
If The Executioner is in the film here he is: Nathan Jones: ![]() Enchantress: Amber Heard:

^^ Amber Heard is currently in Machete Kills and won't be starring in Thor2...also you might want to be looking at European actors as they're filming in London and restricted by the acting union there to how many Americans they're allowed to have working one project in the UK...Portman, Dallas, Alexander, Russo and Dennings are already five Americans in the cast...
they had the same problem with Aliens..they had to hire Brits and ex-Pats to fill a lot of the supporting roles

ya, fiege said "“No, future, future. But there will be a major new villain. A major, major new antagonist…”" that means Thanos in the WAY future. Now, just because Thanos isn't the main villian, I am still willing to believe he will simply appear at some point. And yeah, based on fiege's interview, I am actually leaning towards Surtur.

Surtur sounds more like a "major, major new antagonist" than Malekith does, that's for damn sure; and if Hemsworth was being serious and literal in his statement about "bigger fish" (I don't think he was, but hey), then Surtur definitely fits the bill. Still, I'm more inclined to bet that the major new antagonist will have breasts, and Mads' character will be named Skurge.
