Ugh, but that's still not cool though. I can understand Mr. Nolan does not want to add any cgi/unused footage of Joker in the film, but what is so bad about just mentioning him?

Not mentioning him isn't going to make it look like he was never there. If anyone has seen TDK they know Joker's part in what happened to Dent.

Somehow the script is going to address this without mentioning the instigator for it all. I think it sucks, too, but Nolan is apparently so hung up on Heath's memory that he thinks referencing the Joker is going to hurt that in some way.

Makes no sense to me.

I don't think it will necessarily hurt the movie. But it would have been nice to have the clown get a reference. With all this Harvey Dent stuff going on it would have been so easy to slip his name in as many times as they liked without it sounding forced.

Ah well.

Ra's didn't leave any mess behind like Joker did with Dent. He should be mentioned because it's his fault for it all. It's his fault Batman is being hunted. It's his fault Rachel is dead. It's his fault Dent got scarred and turned bad guy.

It also sucks that Catwoman is not getting her proper name.

I was hoping at least some cop or casual bystander would say something like "who's this catwoman?" or "we were accosted by some kind of catwoman." It doesn't have to be her formal name (hence why they might not use it) but there should be an unofficial mention, just like there was a reference to Iron Monger or War Machine in the Iron Man movies, even if those weren't their actual names as such.

It does seem strange that the guy who brought chaos to Gotham, killed the supposed love of Bruce's life and corrupted it's White Knight doesn't even get a mention. I thought there would at least be a news report mentioning the aftermath of the events of TDK and the Joker.

Who cares how many years later it is? All the rotten things he did are relevant to the movie. Bin Laden is still talked about with the events of 9/11.

It's been eight years. The current era in Gotham is one of peace (as described in the trailer).

For me personally, it's not a big deal if The Joker isn't mentioned. It's been nearly a decade after the events unfolded. Furthermore, The Joker might have corrupted Harvey Dent, but the public was never aware of this tragedy. The only ones that knew about The Joker's involvement were Batman and Gordon.

Yes but still, an attack like that isn't exactly one people forget. As someone else mentioned Bin Laden is still talked about today.

Plus the personal effect it had on Bruce. Will there be no mention of Rachel then? Or that it was Joker who killed her?

To he it just seems strange to sweep the character under the rug completely. Even if it's not a news report, a conversation between Batman and Gordon or Alfred, mentioning "him" would make sense. They don't even have to mention his name as Joker.
