Want to keep your youthful looks for a long time? Don't go out in the sun or tanning salons. I think that Jersey mom that got in trouble for bringing her daughter to a tanning salon should have proven that point already but check out this article as well.

So... I should become shut in?
No thanks. And I'm pretty sure it's a well established fact that the sun does terrible things to your skin. If you wear some kind of sun screen when you are going to spend a lot of time in the sun, you should be fine. |

Nobody's saying you have to stay out of the sun, just realize that sun exposure ages the skin. Just think of how you naturally make raisins and prunes, you leave Plums or Grapes out in the sun, and apply that to what the sun can do to the natural oils in your skin. Just take note there are certain consequences for getting tanned, like that whole Skin cancer thing. You just have to be careful about how much sun you intake and protect yourself against the UV rays.
Because of my extremely fair, ginger inherited skin (My grandmother was a ginger and I have ginger highlights in my otherwise brunette hair that can be seen in the sunlight.) I have to wear something like spf 100. If I were to go out in the sun for a day I'd need to take with a tinted UV blocking umbrella or a cabana tent with me. It's like being an albino and having to be extra careful about sun exposure. But yet I'm almost 40 but I look half my age because I avoid exposure to the sun unless I have to be out in it, like when I'm running errands so it's not all bad this need to avoid sun contact I suppose.

You're right, 'Zilla. The sun does terrible things to a person's appearance. I don't go outside often (almost exclusively for my kids) but when it's necessary, I load up on the sunscreen.
