I love how easy it is to criticize someone's work so harshly, especially considering how much more talented they are than any of us could ever hope to be.

You don't have to participate in a war to know that getting shot in the balls hurts really bad.

I shudder to think of what someone like you considers to be good.
Lemme guess....the initials HZ? Quote:
Also, it's talented, rich and far more successful.

I prefer Giachanno (sp?), Craig Armstrong, Newton Howard and of course, the legendary John Williams. |

Doesn't this door swing both ways? Can't I say since you're not as talented, rich or successful as someone, you have cannot accurately comment on their stuff being good, since it's so above you?

I don't need to throw those words around about anything. Besides, the opposite of harsh criticism isn't that something's above me, it's unreasonable praise. Also, the fact that a "hack" like Horner is scoring this movie and has scored dozens of successful movies and continues to be hired, rather than having a career fizzle out decades ago really means it doesn't matter what you or I think. Horner (and Zimmer, and Giacchino, and Williams, and Elfman and others) will keep scoring movies and being successful no matter what words are thrown around. It was a joke but at the same time given everything, I had to make the assumption! Wouldn't be a score thread without someone saying this will never be as good as TDKR, right? |

I love that second clip. Everything screamed SPIDERMAN. 'I'm swinging here' lol That music just fit so well IMO. I actually felt spidey in that piece then :-)

Anyways, quit getting your panties in a bunch because people on the internet have differing opinions than you. You're the only person here that's making a big deal over people "throwing words around". Like you said, it won't make a difference either way, so I'll call him a hack if I feel justified in doing so. And the Zimmer remark wasn't clever because it wasn't true and I'm not a Zimmer fanatic. Get over yourself. |

Hmm...having a tough time making my mind about the score so far. I'll wait to see it in the full context.
I'll say this though...seeing that police chase clip really made me feel like this is what a proper live action Spider-Man movie done in the 70s/80s era would have looked like. All the practical stunts, with a very traditional superhero theme in the vein of John Williams. It's definitely in stark contrast to the Raimi movies. It looks grittier, while sounding prettier and more upbeat. Again, tough to get my head around it so far but I'm open-minded. |

Shooting at a man's testicles during a war...a cowardly move.

I think the score in the beginning of the 5 minute preview we got sounds better than what we got in the cop chase scene.

I was expecting something totally different, like a Hans Zimmer-Nolan Batman films knockoff. I'm SO glad that isn't the case. The music sounds pretty comic book-y, in my opinion. I quite like it.

Anyone calling Horner a hack is completely ignorant. This right here is perhaps one of the greatest scores put to film:

Just watching that with only the score, the score itself tells the story. Tells the emotion. My god. Sorry, I just forgot how good that score actually is. I maintain it is the best ALL ROUND score in a Trek film.
