Default Web shooter shop class

Though Parker had access to a highschool chemistry lab, he had to make these by himself. Does anyone know how to get those nice square cartridges? Not likely. Does anyone know how to melt and shape metal for under twenty bucks and without injuries? I wish. As a continuation of the How to make spiderman webshooters forum (http://forums.superherohype.com/showthread.php?t=343420), we will be talking about the construction of the shooters themselves. They themselves can fire any liquid, if we only knew how to build them. If you want to learn about the fluid visit (http://forums.superherohype.com/show...5#post20110745)

Woooo hooooo. This thread is now so big that they had to close it. We've really started something. Fanboys unite!

In all seriousness though I think that making a web shooter is actually quite easy. the hardest part of this project is creating a pressure vessel. Indeed, a web shooter is easy.

It's a pressure vessel, a wrist valve, and a way to connect them.

-the wrist valve should be pretty easy to make . You can do anything from a standard air release valve, to a button valve, to a helium tank valve, to a modified aerosol valve, to this:

http://www.instructables.com/id/Airg...Release-Valve/

-Connecting it depends on what you choose for the valve and vessel.

-The pressure vessel can be easy or hard. It can be a fiberglass project, an aerosol can, or even a modified coke bottle.

I'm thinking to make a pressure vessel, you'll need a solvent resistant plastic casing like the coke bottle or a metal bottle. Then you need a valve with a sealant. Finally, you need to reinforce the entire structure. By itself, the structure should be able to hold 100 PSI. Then you reinforce it with fiberglass or polymorph.

You could make the blood spider style shooter:

with a coke bottle, 4 couplers, 2 tubes, 4 tubes, intake valve, 2 air release valves.

All things peter parker could have from uncle Ben's tool box.

And I just realize something, the first ever functioning web shooter was big and bulky, correct right. Why don't we start big and bulky and then we have a functioning web shooter we can make it smaller. So does it sound like a good idea.

http://marvel.com/universe/Spider-Man_(2099)

I could see where you got confused there.

The first ever web shooter was that thing with the bulb on his forearm with a tube leading to his wrist.

I'm more for bulky. I don't really want to make it smaller. Think about it. How on earth are you going to have enough fluid if you make the fluid chambers smaller?

an expansion rate would only work if it had a tensile strength of graphene. Otherwise, it would take our little 50 MPa and turn it into 30-10 MPa. We can't afford to do that unless we use supercritical CO2 (to make an aerogel), which will require super advanced shooters.

There is kind of a limit to the way we build our shooters. I'm guessing that the limits are around 150-200 PSI without having to resort to fiberglass. As I said before, we are basically making an air rifle/ potato cannon pneumatic chamber. Because we are using acetone though, we can't use PVC, which in my opinion was our best option. We can do metal, but that gets pricey. We can use the aluminum cans that you can buy on amazon, but second verse is the same as the first. It's going to get pricey. Polyethylene is the only logical choice, and well... soda bottle or peanut butter jars will could hold the gas. It may not look cool, but it will be cheap, refillable, and easy to make.

and I know that most of you are fourteen. I've seen ten year old rednecks make 200psi pressure vessels. Cheap, reliable, and so easy a kid could do it. For a bunch of fourteen year old kids, this is what you should be looking for. If you don't want it to be that easy or avaiable, then I think you are content with a fantasy of an endless supply of webbing coming from nowhere.

Now I know wadaltmon and the web have considerable skills in the field of electronics. They can do more advanced stuff. For us regular joes, we are going to have to make due.

The only reason I can tell you guys this is because I've tried all of these possibilities that looked cool, or would have been convenient. It's time for diy hacking since backyard re-imagining hasn't worked.

EDIT: I don't think we even truly need fiber glass. Once we get a polyethylene bottle that can hold just the base line of pressure, I think that Duct tape could be used. I'm just reviewing youtube, and duct tape is a wonder material. The mythbusters used it for boats, shoes, bridges, hammocks, cannons (Potato and ACTUAL cannon firing) holding a car, ropes, fishing lines, etc. The military has used it for helicopter repair and ammo cases. I think that if it can hold the weight of several people, helicopter rotors, and a cannon, I think it'll work for DIY reinforcement.

Does anyone know how a game card on a ds work? you know, how when you push the card in the socket it locks in place, and when you push it again you can take it out? cause i think thats how the TASM web shooter cartridge works and i plan on doing that, but a little bigger to hold a little more fluid.

Think of a pen, basically. Same thing as a push-button that stays on or off at one time (I know not of the name).
Also, I found a store that has both methyl cellulose and cellulose acetate.

after I read your question i took a flashlight and looked inside my 3DS's game card slot and there was a metal spring-loaded triangle nodge sticking out in the side and the DS game card has this small square shaped cavity on the side theres this other cavity below it in a shape of a rectangle with a triangle side.So when you insert the game card the triangle sping-loaded metal nodge will be pushed down because of the rectangle piece with a triangle side then it will stay pushed down till it is at the square cavity then its pushed up(since its spring-loaded)now its locked in place

To unlock you push it down then the square cavity will push the triangle nodge down it,it will stay pushed down until the game card is full released.

sorry if its hard to understand but if you have a 3DS or DS and if you look inside you'll get what i mean.that was an idea I had that time for the webshooter cartridge.

thanks guys! youve been a great help. any way here's my design for a web shooter based off the new movie! http://marvelfan22.deviantart.com/ar...oter-307031904 i consider it simpler because the design is a little less complex and it uses fluid insteas of pellets. This is an edit because I took the picture off so I could change and modify it.

OK,you have to turn your image into a url by joining deviant art then upload your images there.Once uploaded,go to your image copy the url then go to superherohype's message box then click on the 'insert image' icon there will be this small box which tells you to insert the image, now you have to delete 'http://'.Now paste your url in the box then click OK and you're done.

this is in case i wanna do a sam raimi style spiderman webshooter. the left button opens solenoid valve and the right is to spin the spinneret. there are small holes in the spinneret, so when only the left button is pushed, the fluid shoots through the holes, creating a net. when both left and right buttons are pushed, the fluid shoots through the holes, the spinneret spins the holes and intertwines the fluid, creating a line used to spin.

Thanks peterwebhead. Here's my first design. It probably sucks because I don't know how to do this. The motor is suppose to rotate the outer spinnerets to wrap around the main one making a web line. The part with the "?" mark is where I was going to put the release valve but I'm not sure about how to do that part. (by the way sorry about the bad quality on the photo)

yea, but raimi originall had the idea to use the original mechanical webshooters, but he cut that for some reason.

It was because the movie was already too long. He would have had to add parts to show him building the thing, parts with him maintaining it, and it would have gotten rid of his, "anyone could be spidey" thing.

If he made Peter the epitome of intelligence, we wouldn't have this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U8aLZQbB8hE

This was only possible because peter was a normal person.
