Haha, that's what I thought, too. I guess it's a twist on an origin, though we've still seen the damn thing thirty times and all.

You know, I get that it's a new continuity, and they're doing this for the movie/book store audience who probably haven't seen the origin in some context or another as much as regular readers, but can they not...just start with Bruce already being Batman. Is there anyone, even in that broad audience, who doesn't know Batman's origin in some form or another? I don't know, I'm probably just bitter as hell at all the origin retelling/revisiting in comics, though.

I like the, perhaps more realistic idea that the ten year old son of a Billionaire would be fairly stuck up and the amount of guilt he'll feel may be quite interesting if Johns fully explores it, so I'm willing to give this a shot.

Does Geoff Johns hate Batman? I've never read a story from him where Bruce isn't a horrible person in some way.

Word. It's different for Billy and Bruce I think. Bruce seems to be a snotty little ******* pre-shooting. Billy's still a good kid, just mouthy because he doesn't want anyone to get close.

The ending scene was fairly heartwarming.

Edit: I'd also add that throughout that comic Johns had Barry Allen constantly saying "oh but Bruce wouldn't do this, or Bruce would think this is the right thing to do."

Also he made Thomas Wayne a complete badass.

Quick question then.....The New 52 has brought back the multiverse, right?? If the Earth we've been reading about in all the new books (ie Superman, JLA, Omac etc) is not Earth One, what Earth is it?
The multiverse has been back in some form since Infinite Crisis. I believe the DCnU is still the "New Earth" that was introduced in Infinite Crisis, just with the history revamped

Care to link to some? I've only seen the Newsarama one, and it does rave, but not in a good way. Kind of curious to see what people are saying about it.

Just a few I found

http://www.youtube.com/embed/XUqbywiVDRw?wmode=opaque

A comic show - Its phenomenal, everyone should check it out. Its the batman book to get. Will give a money back guarantee on this book,.

http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/12791521-batman - 4/5

http://voices.yahoo.com/batman-earth...-11341388.html - Johns does an interesting job of toying with and expanding the backstories of several supporting characters in the Batman Universe. Johns also gives us a compelling little backstory on Martha Wayne through Bruce's flashbacks. It all comes together to tell a compelling mystery thriller which hearkens back to the early days of Detective Comics. Artist Gary Frank does a wonderful job of putting Johns' word into the form of illustrations. His work is realistic and slick while still having an air of grime to it. It's great to see the eyes of the Dark Knight again after many years of keeping them hidden behind lenses.

http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/07/...rth-one-review - 9/10 Amazing

http://nerdbastards.com/2012/07/04/c...man-earth-one/ - Batman: Earth One is a graphic novel worth the wait. It’s a rather brave attempt at giving us a Batman story that doesn’t focus on an epic, city-wide crisis. Like Frank Miller’s Batman: Year Onebefore it, it’s a tale of pure human drive, a bold re-imagining of Batman as a kid with white hot purpose burning in his heart. Take that kind of flame, give it to two of the best creators in comics, and you’ve got what’s going to become an essential Batman story

After reading Batman: Earth One I still stand by what I said before that the new 52 should have started with Earth One and moved on from there. I believe the new 52 should have let the Origin's of the main Earth One Heroes (Superman, Batman, Flash, Green Lantern) come out in GN format and then move on from there into monthly issues for the reboot. At least that's how I would have done it I am really enjoying Superman and Batman: Earth One.

I know but I love the Earth One line and I am going to miss it once DC gets bored with the line much like how they did with All-Star.

Why are they gonna get bored with something that brought them success?

JMS quit monthly comics just to pump out a sequel to Superman due to its success.

The All Star line didn't end because DC got bored with it, it ended due to the endless delays and creative issues created by Miller, Lee, and Hughes.

^ This.

EO is doing something unique in that they present complete stories. MArvel is now blatantly ripping off this approach. They wont cut this short.

Marvel seems to be churning them out a little faster too. But those don't really interest me.
