He wouldn't maim any Bat-members. Dini just did that with Catwoman's heart. Snyder wouldn't tell a story so irrationally similar to another story we read just mere months ago. Never. He simply wouldn't do that.
But I didn't consider Hush being a part of this. He really hasn't popped up in the DCnU yet. I'd be interested to see him, but probably in Red Hood and the Outlaws and not in a Joker story. He has no connection to Mistuh Jay, aside from mutual hate of Batman. But when you think about it, Hush hates Bruce, not Batman. Whereas Joker couldn't give a damn about Bruce. Which is why Red Hood, Hush, Batman, and Joker would make a killer 4-way storyline. Jason is uneasy with Bruce but hates the Joker. Jason has an uneasy alliance with Hush. Hush hates Bruce. Joker hates ****ing everybody. Batman/Bruce is stuck in the middle.

Also consider this:
Snyder recently used Hush in Gates of Gotham Hush had his own face cut off at the end of Dini's run. Hush and Joker had a major run-in briefly in "Gotham Knight" wherein they tried to kill each other. Hush is a plastic surgeon.

I didn't read Gates. What's the gist of that?
I knew all the other stuff, though that Gotham Knights book is old as ****. And I remember the Joker looking weird in it. Like, a bad rip-off of Jim Lee's Joker from "Hush." Hush isn't a plastic surgeon. He's supposed to be a brain surgeon. Then they made him all knife happy.

Basically Gates of Gotham is about the founding families of Gotham (Waynes, Cobblepotts,Elliots, and Kanes) getting attacked by some crazy guy whose family they screwed over a couple hundred of years back.

Man. Snyder really likes pre-Wayne murders Gotham I suppose. Gotham only got interesting once a guy dressed up as a bat starting beating the tar out of criminals. Batman isn't interesting if he's just one more weird thing in a long line of weird things happening in Gotham. Like the Talons. If they have always been around killing people, wouldn't every person in Gotham compare Batman to the Talons his entire career? Wouldn't he not become Batman for the sole purpose of not wanting to resemble the Talons? I'm fine with an ancient conspiracy, Court of Owls, secret order thing always being around in Gotham. It's their private army of costumed assassins that doesn't make a ton of sense.

But most of the people in Gotham don't think the Talons exist

Apparently Snyder is making Alfred Tommy's real daddy.

You know what? Snyder isn't a bad writer. He's a great writer who just happens to have some ideas that dont exactly gel with what's recently happened. Had he told this story before morrison's run it'd be great.

His run with Dick on 'Tec was some of the best storytelling in the last 5 years...
The first 6 or so issues of his Batman run was phenomenal... but once the crossovers started happening it kind of got diluted and, while still good, hasn't had the same kick for me since. I'm hoping this new arc bring him back to former glory and that he quickly drops this ''My city hates me'' stuff.

I probably enjoyed it better because I didn't pick up the bleed over issues of it, I just stuck with Batman for the owls because B&R had its own great story going without the need for owls. |

I think the crossover was kind of pointless really too though I thought the Birds of Prey issue was neat

And his mother *Dramatic Pause* WAS AN OWL! *Thunder sounds*
I don't think I hate Snyder's run. There have been parts that I dislike (Mr. Freeze, anecdote after anecdote, didn't find the Court to be a threat whatsoever, cramming owls everywhere) but overall I've enjoyed his run so far. I'm pleasantly surprise that I didn't hate the brother reveal even though Lincoln March was obviously going to go all Thomas Elliot on Bruce.

I want a story where Bruce has to deal with the horrifying revelation that his mother is a barn owl

A little off what you guys are talking about, but I got the latest issue of Batwoman finally, and man, it's hard to believe this was one of my favorite books of the reboot. This whole second arc has just been a big flop, and like...4 issues into it I'm still lost as **** as to what is even really happening. Part of it is the disjointed storytelling, but part of it is that I don't really give a ****. If Williams wasn't on art next arc, this would've probably been on my recent chop block.

Yeah I don't like the whole "2 days ago, 3 hours from now, today" thing, it's just too confusing. But I think JH and Hayden only wanted to do it for this one arc.
That said I love how they've made Killer Croc as one Kate's main enemies, that was just plain awesome. |

Yeah, I haven't been enjoying Batwoman much lately, either. I was like 3 months behind on it for a while, and when I finally caught up, I was really glad I waited. There's no way in hell I would've been able to follow Williams' non-linear-just-because story on a monthly basis. I'm considering dropping it outright unless something comes along to absolutely blow me away by the end of this arc.

Non-linear storytelling can work, but not in such a messy, scrambled way like this. Really, the whole thing with Flamebird keeps being jammed in there, and while there's nothing wrong with a subplot being there, it's literally not progressed at all over this time period as far as I can tell.
I'll give the next arc a chance with Williams coming back on art, and hopefully back to more straightforward storytelling that works better. Because, really, the first arc was fine. |

That's probably my problem. I need the book to be better than just fine because, frankly, I still don't really care much about Kate. The reason I got interested in her in the first place was because Rucka started building her into a pretty interesting, multifaceted character. Williams feels like he's kind of letting Kate stagnate while going through the motions of various plots around her. I don't feel like she's growing the way she did under Rucka's pen anymore. She's just... there.

I'm still loving both the character and the series right now personally. Batwoman is ny favourite dc comic book right now and the best thing they're publishing I think. I
it with all my love I loves the way Williams writes Kate too and the way he writes Maggie and Chase as well and I've been digging this arc so much It be the one DC book i really get excited about each month and the only DC comic book i really care about at the moment too Sorry you guys haven't dug the way Williams has been telling the story in this arc with the whole 'three weeks ago' etc thing but not to worry that's just for this arc ![]() So the next arc should be more enjoyable for you guys I think I've dug this arc i wouldn't want every arc to be told this way but for a one off i thought it was neat
