For the luck of England the referees are blind.

Yeah, lets not mention he was offside.

That same referee's assistant missed two blatant offside calls that would have screwed over England.

Scott Parker loves taking balls to the face.

I can't believe the French lost 2-0 against the Swedes.

Finally, we win our group for once. But grinding out a 1-0 against one of the weakest teams in the tournament, and being outplayed by them for large stretches, doesn't exactly fill me with confidence we can beat Italy. But hey, at least it'll be nice to get knocked out by someone different for a change, I'm sick of it being Portugal or Germany.

Awful performance, the worst we have played in the 3 group games, but we are through as group winners and a team of Croatia's quality is out. Oh well, hopefully we improve against Italy.

I actually think England has a chance against Italy. The Italians aren't quite playing their best. That doesn't mean they aren't a threat but there is an opening for a victory if England plays their cards right.

Performances aside, 7 points from England from a group with France, Ukraine & Sweden in a Euro championship is great. Any other Euro apart from 96 and we would have got 1 or 2 points, even with a team of superstars.

We've got the luck on our side, so why not? Italy remind me very much of AC Milan in the CL, you'll either walk all over them or they'll completely dominate you, there's no middle ground. My biggest worry is how unfit Rooney looked, never seen him so slow when he's bearing down on goal. We're dire but that really doesn't seem to matter at the moment. one more dire 1-0 and we're in the semi's... unreal.

England has a chance against Italy...Spain would have demolished them

Rooney needs to get fit though. He looked well short of pace and sharpness today. Italy should be a close game and we definitely have a chance. Hopefully someone else will knock out Spain for us

Great that England got through but our press are bloody delusional....
"Too Good to be Roo" "Wonder Wayne"....???

Lol. My mother could have scored that header. Thought Rooney was one of the worst on the park for us and Carroll should have started the game.

Ah well, let's hope we put in a better showing against Italy.

Sepp Blatter saying goal line technology is a must now.

Ukraines 'goal' was offside but it crossed the line by a country mile.

Those officials behind the goal are a waste of time, they dot even move from the spot that they are standing in all the game...

I hate the press and nor I agree with what they said but Rooney hasn't played a match for a long time - you can't expect him to be super sharp.

Rooney wasn't all that good but he needed to get that full run out to try and get match sharp for the knockout game, plus while his goal was not spectacular, it's the instinct of taking that gamble that makes for top strikers.

He looks a long way off to me. Not blaming him at all but he needs to work really hard in training as we need him near his best from the very next game. Agreed though getting those kind of goals is about being in the right place at the right time and if you can do it consistently it's more down to instinct than luck.
