Hans Zimmer is a fantastic composer and has produced wonderful music for Gladiator, Lion King, TDK and many others. Its seems so stupid to think he will make a similar score like Batman for Man of Steel. If he creates something at the same level of The Thin Red Line and Inception it will be epic, powerful and modern. You guys should be more positive instead of negative as I'm sure he will create something special!

^^^I was positive before I heard what they came up with for BB when I found out two very talented composers that I respect were scoring it. How could this not be a slam dunk right. I walk out not impressed by the score at all. Still ain't. It felt second rate to their better scores.
I tried to keep positive for TDK. I thought they would fix a lot of the problems I had with BB musically. Instead the score felt mostly like a rehash of BB with the Joker motif being the main new material. I wasn't impressed with what he came up with for the Joker either. I really really tried to give Zimmer the benefit of the doubt on TDKR. I found TDKR to be the worst of the scores judging from what I've heard in the film. The score left hardly any impression on me. The scores as a whole really wasted Zimmer (and especially Howard's) talents. It's a shame that we didn't get masterpieces from the likes of these two. That's just my opinion though. But if you love those Batman scores and love Zimmer's music in general. More power to you, but I'm tired of giving Zimmer the benefit of the doubt. Just so you know I don't hate him or his music. He's written some outstanding scores. His current blockbuster scores are my main problems I have with his music. |

Me too. His Batman score isn't his best work, imo. I mean, WTF, his Batman theme is just a "minor third" interval. I thought the score in BB was one of the worst parts of the movie. Things got a little bit better by TDK, imo. It was louder and more dramatic.
In fact, I think the same thing can be said about music in movies in general. I haven't heard a really amazing score in a long time and Superman deserves a solid theme at least. L&C is dissed by most of the people on this board but Jay Gruska did a phenomenal job with the music. Every incarnation of Superman had their amazing scores so I hope MOS gets a good one because I'm not easily impressed. |

Maybe you just haven't heard a good representation of the scores for BB & TDK. Both of the recording sessions for those films can be found online. Each contains over 2 hours of music, and in chronological order, as well.
I'm a fan of Zimmer (most of the time), but I really hate his commerical albums, what with truncating the actual cues, and sometimes combining them into suites. These complete scores are much better. |

I kind of hope that Zimmer is able to create some badass music for Zod's character like how he was able to for the likes of the Joker and especially for Bane.

I have no idea what approach he'd take for Zod. Something like "The Dream Is Collapsing" from Inception or something more playful like "The Kraken" from POTC. Or maybe something more subtle.

Anybody know where this is from?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k_BoW...eature=related Sounds like Zimmer or Jablonsky. I imagine we might get something in the same vicinity regarding style and complexity (or lack of) for the heroic theme. While it's kinda cliched it's not bad. It shares some of the same notes from Zimmer's "Journey to the Line" from the CC-footage.

Jablonsky did a very nice job with Transformers and would do well, I think, in something that needed hummable heroic themes. But with Zimmer at the helm, I'm hoping we get something a bit more unique than what's expected.

Since there are lots of diplomatic people on here I'm going to say what most rational people are thinking:
If you think there is somebody more appropriate to capture the gravity and significance of Superman musically than Hans Zimmer you need to take that crack pipe out of your mouth. |

Maybe I am the only one in this thread who likes Zimmer's score for TDKR.

I like it too, especially the Bane-chant. In generel I think the trilogy has had a good score. Simple, yet fitting and effective for the modern and noir'ish approach.

The Darl Knight trilogy score is fantastic in my opnion. Those who say Batman doesn't have a theme when he returns in Rises what is that then? Cause I'd call it a theme whenever Batman shows up or does something heroic in this trilogy.

Maybe, but thank God TDK-trilogy is aimed towards an older audience that, unlike other CBMs, dont need to spell out everything, including the music.
I applaud its subtlety.

Some of the dialogue in TDK leads me to believe otherwise, Gordon's speech at the end was spoon feeding the audience and basically spelling out the ending. |

Well, there wasnt much about that ending to misunderstand imo. But in that case I think it worked since it was the end of the movie and it was made to make it feel like a grand closure and a to-be-continued.
