It could be the rivalry between Major Zero and Big Boss, or a hint at Solid and Liquid. The trailer descriptions mention a logo, XOF, so maybe there's a rival to Big Boss' group in the story. Given Kojima's love for broad themes, I won't be surprised if the answer is "all the above."

Just some speculating
http://www.nowgamer.com/news/1564501..._revealed.html One thing of note is that the gun big boss is holding in the pic is from 1979, which would place it after peace walker |

I still remember the first trailer for MGS2... I don't think I've ever been as excited for any video game related release since.
This is coming close to that.

Oh man. That MGS2 trailer. That was craaazy. You never saw anything like that back then. I was posting on GameSpot a lot at that time and I remember everyone was freaking out about it. Even people who ignored or disliked the first MGS.

Ha, that was actually the first metal gear game I played, I had no knowledge of the series before seeing that trailer and I was still sold as soon as I saw it, at one point I watched that trailer daily. then once I read "in the darkness of shadow Moses" I knew I had to go back and play the first one

I think the only way it works, without being incredibly jarring, is having a young Solid Snake in it. Handing over Big Boss to Doyle, and a rookie Solid to Hayter sounds like the most viable option. If you want both Doyle and Hayter, like me, that is. Funny, because I'm planning on buying ZOE HD Collection which is supposed to have a Rising demo with it. |

I was going to get ZOE HD anyway, but a Rising demo definitely sweetens the pot.

I've decided the figure in the second picture is Raiden. Still, I'm curious why Snake is mentioned.

Yes it's got the mechanical jaw so my bet would be Raiden too.
Perhaps Snake is also in the photo, or it's a reference to Raiden's first code name ?

As far as all of the current talk, a new Metal Gear hasn't even entered my head yet. I thought Raiden's game would be the last Metal Gear anything for consoles this gen, and a new series with a new protagonist would start next gen. The more I think about it though, the more appealing the idea is to me. Revengence doesn't have me psyched like a normal MG, if at all. So an official sequel to get me drooling is welcome. I'd be down for another Big Boss story, a new Snake clone, or some hybrid timeline jumping from Naked to younger Solid. I'd also be down for a MG 1&2 remake. Personally though I'd rather they let old man Solid enjoy his retirement. Not only did he earn it in 4, but his story was wrapped up tightly. I wouldn't mind him in cutscenes with Otacon, or giving advice to a rookie over codec like he did Raiden in 2 though. Don't get me wrong, I want more Solid, he's easily my favorite MG character. It's just that 4 put a perfect ending to his story, and future adventures past that could ruin it.

Ok, just finally read the last 6 or so pages to understand what you guys were talking about....open world MGS, with a new shiny engine, and those pics. Excuse me, just soiling myself, carry on.

I'd love it if they included Old Snake in Rising, even if it is only for one or two scenes giving Raiden a motivational speech even if it's from his sick bed....that'd make me very happy actually.

I wanted something like that too, I also wanted the bandanna that Raiden is wearing to be Snake's. However, considering the timeline, he should be dead already.

It could still be Snake's Bandanna, perhaps a gift he left Raiden to help inspire him or something.
