One of my local theaters manager said that he has on his roster to re-release it one more time for two weeks in Feb on IMAX, one last time for oscar promos. Anybody else heard of anything like this happening in their neck of the woods?

I don't have any info on it, but some of us had speculated that Marvel/Disney would re-release The Avengers for awards season. This could mean that they have decided to campaign for awards in certain categories that they feel the film could be nominated for, beyond the technical ones. My uneducated guess is that they could try for Best Supporting Actor (Hiddleston and maybe Jackson), Best Screenplay, Best Director, Best Editing, Best Cinematography. Whether such a campaign would result in actual recognition and nominations is anyone's guess, of course.

Disney may see The Avengers having a Titanic-like presence at Oscar time because of its box office take and high critical acclaim. Or they could just be looking to make a few more bucks like every other studio.

Twelve times, no kidding. Funny thing is, the DVD comes out in a week, and it's STILL playing on numerous screens around town. How often does THAT happen?

Last time we saw it was over Labor Day Weekend, when they had that $5 special of Avengers, TDKR, Hunger Games and Spiderman in RPX ($5 each, not for all four).

I saw it twice opening weekend (once in 3D) and then for a third time for 3 dollars Labor Day weekend in 2D.

5 times in cinemas, 6 times on BR.
I plan to watch it again in about one hour.
