I think the Spy Who Loved Me was better because I found it to have the better villain, better pacing, better looking (with all due respect to the underwater sequences), and much better action set pieces (the Ski Chase I think is vastly better than ).

Honestly, Roger Moore in The Spy Who Loved Me was way better than Connery in Thunderball, especially by today's standards in which Connery came off as very creepy at times in Thunderball. Plus, Roger Moore, in addition to playing straight, did some of the most badass things in the history of the Bond series, like dropping a guy of a roof, shooting another guy in the balls, and of course, ski chase.

I don't know if you're right but he certainly really improved his game in 21st Jump St.
Comedy is hard, so I was pretty impressed. It's too early to say, but maybe with the right material he will be able to grow into a really interesting actor in the future, who knows?
I don't think he'll ever be that good as a dramatic actor. He just always seems uncomfortable doing drama. With comedy, even in The Dilemma, he looked comfortable and more charismatic.

Yep. As I said, before this decade Depp was a great but underrated actor, but ever since Pirates, he got popular and most of his movies have him either on autopilot or triggering his inner Jack Sparrow (which admit the first Pirates was successful because of him and his performance).

Okay, here's a strange unpopular opinion/observation of mine, but watching Beetlejuice the other day, I couldn't help but notice...

Jack Nicholson Joker + Health Ledger Joker = Michael Keaton Beetlejuice. Seriously. It's like exact.

Also I thought CR was awesome but QoS was beyond rubbish. I'm going to watch the full trailer for Skyfall and it it feels like James Bourne rather than James Bond, I'm out.

From the looks of the trailer, it doesn't look like it's going to feel like Bourne at all.

Ah, the good old "Bond copied Bourne" debate. I'm not denying that completely, but I hope you realize that Bond was first and Ludlum was inspired by Bond, he even gave the character the same initials. Most of that "debate" was used by the blind anti-Craig bashers, who still think Brosnan was the first & only 007.

The Bondmovies have always taken influences from other films. Craig was good in QOS, but it all went I a bit too fast. I don't think we'll be seeing that again.

My Bond top 5:

From Russia With Love
Casino Royale
Dr No
The Living Daylights
The Spy Who Loved Me

Here's an unpopular opinion: I mostly like QOS. It has it's flaws (the action scenes cut and shot too messily, which I blame on Marc Forster being a s****y action director, and Bond suddenly becoming as impossibly deft as Spidey. And the title). But it's nowhere close to the bottom of my list of Bond films (and I've seen them all). It's flawed, but I do not get the hate.

This, but I think Craig is good. What do you think about Casino Royale?

I don't think there's anything bad about QOS, but at the same time there's nothing that really distinguishes it and makes it something special.

To me, the Bourne like camera work and the directing hurts QoS along with the rushed writing. But it's not one of the worst Bond movies as there been much worse.

Here are the worst Bond movies, personally: 1st being worst

1) Man With the Golden Gun
2) Die Another Day
3) Diamonds Are Forever
4) Moonraker
5) View to a Kill

DAD is not only one of the worst Bonds, it's also one of the worst movies ever made. And unfortunately, Connery clearly only did DAF for the money.

This is my bottom 5, 1st being the worst:

Die Another day
A View To A kill
Tomorrow Never Dies
Moonraker
Diamonds Are Forever

I'm just pissed that we got QOS and nary reference to what QOS means within the Bond storyline. Use the title but not the situations that make it necessary. But then much of the story in QOS was implied when Bond was in the Bahamas in CR.

Haha, this thread has turned into a James Bond polling station

Anyway, another "unpopular" opinion by me:

Martin Scorcese should never make another 3D movie.

Worst Bond movies...

1. Diamonds are Forever. It honestly felt like I was watching the non-sex scenes of a really bad porno at some points.
2. Moonraker
3. Die Another Day
4. A View to a Kill
5. The Man with the Golden Gun

Also, Tomorrow Never Dies and Live and Let Die are probably my two favorite "trashy" bond movies. They've both aged pretty badly, and aren't that legitimately good, but they're both very much great representations of the respective eras in which they were made, and for that reason, they're very enjoyable.

Apparently this is an unpopular opinion, because Leon/The Professional has an 8.6 rating on the IMDb. Don't get me wrong, I think it's a good movie, but 8.6? Above Saving Private Ryan? And Terminator 2? And Citizen Kane? Really? I mean...really?

Personally, I think Live and Let Die isn't that badly made a movie, but I guess it's partly because Guy Hamiltons other non Goldfinger (diamonds are forever and man with e golden gun) movies are so god awful. I like the Blaxploitation presentation, and Moore has some badass scenes, like when he stuck a gun to Carter's head (Which for a while was my Avy).

Also characters like Rosie Carter and JW Pepper bring the movie down. Also, Bond not fighting for the first half hour was annoying and a really bad way to establish Moore's Bond, especially compared to Lazenbys introduction.

Yeah, I agree with that. I'm not a huge fan of Leon. I felt that the Portmans crush on Leon was awkward and unnecessary, and Oldman overreacted a lot.

That reminds me... AFI's Top 100 lists? They suck ass.

Outside of the fact that a ton of the best movies aren't American and "can't" be listed, the movies/ordering they do pick is just retarded.

There is no way Singing' in the Rain is the 5th best movie ever made, and I love Singing' in the Rain. Nor does it make any sense that City Lights - a movie made in like the 20s - would go from being #76 in 1998 to #11 in 2008.

It's dumb.

How did The Searchers go from #96 to #12 on their two 100 greatest movie lists? Did Spielberg pay someone off?

It's honestly like they just pick the most well known and cliched movies rather than actually assess their quality.

A View to A Kill does not deserve to be considered one of the worst Bond movies.
