Maybe the writer weren't familiar that one book is one season. So what the writer actually meant it's an additional 26 episodes on top of the already ordered 26 episodes if you're counting book one & soon book two's total episodes.

Anyway I can't complain, good news.

If it can get to 60 episodes I will be happy.
Thanks for that.
The sad part is that we have to wait until next year before season 2.

Ugh, I'm so obsessed with LOK, right now, that I can't properly nerdgasm over The Amazing Spider-Man.

That EW writer really structured the news weird. Either way, 52 guaranteed episodes? Exclamation points everywhere!

Oh this is exciting! I hope that this show can recover from the flop that season ending was though. I'll be waiting to see what happens.

shouldn't it be season 3 (book 3) since season 2 (book 2) is already under way?

The big news wasn't that there was a second season; it's the fact that there are 52 guaranteed episodes at this point.

It really is confusing how it's being reported, but I think it's supposed to work like this:
Season/Book 1 - 12 episodes (Duh)
Season/Book 2 - 14 episodes
Season/Book 3 - 13 episodes
Season/Book 4 - 13 episodes

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Spectacular news. But here's the thing I'm worried about: Yes, the ending of the first season did leave some fans going WTF or Deus Ex. Can the show still attract those same viewers to the series? Once burn twice shy and all? Thing is, aside form the finale I dare say the season as a whole was pretty damn awesome. We know the diehards will be back no matter how much they insist on pissing on the finale but can it attract newer viewers who jumped on the Korra boat only to get an ending which was...divisive in its feedback.

I guess it will all depend on what Mike and Bryan say in their interview panels. I for one am praying someone brings up a damn merchandising question. Action figures damnit!

I think the online "divisive" fans are probably a very small portion of the viewing audience.

yeah honestly this is the first I've heard of the finale receiving negative reception. all the fans I've interacted with thought it was awesome. until the now the only negativity really that I've seen was like two posters in this thread.

I have learned that nothing is ever perfect. The few things that may have been a little off/whacky/bad about the show(and finale) don't detract from it's overall awesomeness, for me. People who expect perfection should get rid of their TVs cause it's never going to happen.

So, Aang had three bending friends(eventually) and a non-bender.. Assuming Asami get's over the Korra/Mako Tryst and subsequent relationship there's your non-bender.. I wonder how much time is going to pass between these 12 episodes and the next 14.. cause in keeping with Avatarverse tradition, it'd be nice to see one of the Air-bender kids grow up and join New team Avatar and complete the circle with the last element (Aang -Air, Katara-Water, Toph-Earth, eventually Zuko-Fire).. Korra - Water, Bolin-Earth, Mako-Fire, ? -Air

I'm ecstatic about this. We could get up to four seasons of Korra out of this! We might even get some - gasp! - character development.

I hope we get four seasons of Legend of Korra. Korra herself has the potential to be a great character.

I wonder what made Nick flip their original decision? Maybe they want to make LoK their flagship title to reinvent themselves as a major player in the Kids' network market? I mean aside from Cartoon Network and the Hub, Nick's got a pretty strong portfolio in the making with LoK, the new TMNT series and Power Rangers(?).

How did you even stumble upon this? Thanks for the info. Looking forward to the next season even more now, and some spirit world.

Cant wait for season 2 to start up, sounds good. Though I dont know how Team Avatar will be able to stay intact since Mako will be a cop and Asami has taken over her fathers buisness.

Season Two already sounds like it's going to be even better than this past season. Cannot wait!

I'm sure they will all come together to help Korra and face some evil. I don't think it will be the traditional team Avatar we've sen in the past, more like they just come together in a time of need....avengers style.
