How about the return of Trask played by Bill Duke, and have it revealed he's Apocalypse...which would lead into the next movie. That would give weight to his role in The Last Stand which would help in its role in the franchise.

BTW I don't know if it was explained in the comics or not but what is so special about the Sentinels anyway that they can keep the mutants in check? Considering especially that some mutants are really incredibly powerful?

They're just big robots, and if the artist is right, really scary looking imo.

So why couldn't, say, Magneto just pick them up and smash them with his powers?

If Apocalypse were in this film I'd rather he be the master mind of the assassination.

As far as Days of Future Past is concerned, the mutants in the internment camps have inhibitor collars that prevent them from using their powers. In the books, Magneto stays behind and sacrifices himself so that the surviving X-Men can escape and try to stop the sentinels from attacking Europe. So it's possible we could see McKellen's Magneto put up a fight against the metal monstrosities.

That's too complex a science to get into, within the films anyway.

In the comics and cartoons, there were Sentinels made of plastic or ceramics that were then less susceptible to Magneto's powers. Of course, he could hurl metal objects at/into/through them, so they weren't totally invulnerable.

This definetly seems to be a new beggining for x-men franchise. FC was a good move, and I want to see sequels, but this new stage is much bigger than that.

I cant wait for Fox to forget about the classic 3 years gap, and start doing more movies in the meantime.

X-men universe is HUGE. You cant expect the audience to wait 3 years for a new movie and keep the hype, while other studios are doing bigger and more things faster.

Many of the mutants put up a good fight, especially those like Magneto (and Polaris would be equally effective).

But there are massive numbers of Sentinels and they are progammed to detect a mutant, identify them through a database and often have a prepared counter-attack specific to the mutant's abilities.

In a world where there's a mutant terrorist who is known to be a master of magnetism, known to have been behind 4 major acts of terror (X1-3 + FC) you would think the people tasked with combating such an individual would come up with a better army, than one that is easily controlled-manipulated by said master of magnetism!

I really want to see Rogue smash Sentinels, also Kitty's power is effective against electronics.

Magneto can be overpowered. Let's see him stop 10 Sentinels coming straight at him!

A big no for that. Bolivar Trask is hardly memorable in X3 and to reveal that he's actually Apocalypse is just not good. Even if he will have a role in DOFP (creating Sentinels), they should cast someone else for the role of Apocalypse.

I am expecting a lot from the final battle. This has to be much better than the final fight in XM:TLS which ended rather quickly if you ask me. The stakes need to be raised and the X-men need to be seen fighting for survival.

I would prefer if the final fight took place in the future instead of the past but it would also be nice to see it alternate between the past x-men's struggle against the brotherhood and the future x-men's fight against sentinels. It would be amazing to watch a few of them die as they fight. Perhaps recreating the iconic wolverine, storm and collossus deaths from the comics.

What if after getting injected by the cure his powers come back but he's not as powerful as he was? Granted, movie wise I could easily see a small army of sentinels overpowering him.

I guess so.

If the dystopian future is post-X3, then Magneto's returning powers might not be as strong - plus the government had learned about using plastic in its weapons. So the Sentinels might well be made of a plastic material.

i dont know if there's any hope for this but I hope Singer does what the animated series did and replace Kitty Pride with Bishop and have Gambit in there as well. Thats a monster cast if they get everyone.

Mckellan, Patrick Stewart, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Hugh Jackman, Halle Barry, Taylor Kitcsh, gotta get Idris Elba for Bishop, Katniss said she's come back, good lord thats gonna be good if they go that way.

In the 1990's series one thing they did is they started making a new generation of sentinels completely without metal, said they were made from plastic.

I'm curious as to how they're going to change the story line. It's clear they're not going for the classic one with Kitty.

Sentinels IIRC have the ability to negate mutant abilities. One of them broke free from Joseph's hold during that god-awful Onslaught crossover.
