^He's had it for 6 or 7 years, though, and says it's under control. Very sad but doesn't sound like a reason to think any more than that.

so out of 4 options what do you guys all think will cause "DOFP"

In the comics it's been both Sen Kelleys death, and the Phoenix... which we got in both films.. but it really could be anything.. though... if it's X1 or X2 it also may erase the films that came after it.... (X2 and X3)

-Sen Kelley's Death
-Magneto's Attack on humans with "dark cerebro"
-Jean Grey and the Alcatraz incident
-Other

personally... id rather not have any film "erased" so am partial to it being the events of X3 (which would actually make logical sense), but.... i'm also perfectly fine with it being the events in X2 and completely eradicating some of the mistakes X3 gave us....

And all of those happened in the original trilogy .

Sen. Kelly death = X1
Dark cerebro = X2
Alcatraz incident = X3

But I don't think any of those will cause DOFP, its probably something that happened in the past, pre-X1. But I would love it if the Alcatraz incident caused DOFP to occur. That means they aren't going to ignore X3.

If it's ANY of those things, then doesn't that kinda make the actually First Class characters moot? They represent the past, and they are the ones who have to change events to save the future.

If the event happened in X1-X3 then that would be where the time traveler goes...

I just read that Alan Cummings wants to come back as Nightcrawler that's interesting b/c I thought i read somewhere saying he wouldn't come back b/c of the Make up or something but it would be awesome if he came back i would love to see a Nightcrawler vs. Azazel

Not really. Not if they have to change their future selfs. Its no surprise the current xmen comics are doing something similar with bringing the first class to the present. What if the first class has to convince or prevent the future events from taking place?

That's just a bit of a stretch, imo. The First Class are the focal point and they need to stop a current threat in order to "save" the future. Not prevent an event 50 years in the future in order to save the even more distant future.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the FC cast get stuck somewhere in the future (their future or our future) at the end of DOFP. Thinking ahead to the FC3 film, there isn't a lot they could do after the event in DOFP.

Let's say DOFP plays out normally, and the FC cast fixes the event. There's not much that happens in the 70's and 80's outside the cold war(to similar to FC1) and Vietnam war(don't think it would work).

Having them get stuck somewhere outside their current timeline leaves a lot more options for FC3 then if they went back to normal.

I believe this one will see the x-men in the present travel back to the past. During the course of the film, we will realize that the x-men we see in the first trilogy such as Xavier, Magneto, Mystique, Beast, Cyclops die.

The next movie will see the character in XFC all travel to the future and start the new story from there. This was we can see the younger actors taking place of the older ones.

... Its not a stretch at all... It utilizes both franchise casts. Right now none of us really know the focal point, and either way the first class group are traveling to the singer franchise future (we just don't know where in that future)..... There's no other way this plot of past and present works.

And with The Wolverine supposedly taking place post X3 that may be an indication that dofp will be caused by either the X3 events or something else entirely that preceded that event.

Yeah that makes the most sense for having a clean path for the future of the franchise. I would be surprised if they went another route.

Probably not. I just don't see it happening. Just because in the comics Nightcrawler's parents are Mystique and Azazel. It doesn't mean they will do that too in the movies.

Im sure its not a casuality that both were on FC.

yeah, Singer likes teleporters, but there are many teleporters on the x-universe, so Azazel was a really specific choice.

Maybe they dont adress it ever, but just having both working together on the sequel and in the 60's its a clear nod to the comic fans. Some will want to take it as that, others wont.

I'd love for this film to reboot X1-X3..Star Trek style,Movies after this one would technically be sequels/prequels yet also reboot the timeline from the old movies and I find that very interesting,Plus it would make the franchise even more like comic-books since this type of stuff happens in them all the time!!!

IF Singer continues then he can fix mistakes he feels he made or who ever directs next can do their own thing without having to tie things up to the first trilogy and mess up even more like in FC,The FC cast can also do more of their own thing than in FC cause the characters's destines are altered!!

So much potential!

I'm scared to death on how they are going to do this.
It will either kill both or all 3 franchies'X-men,first Class and Wolverine.
Or it's a great oppurtunity to fix alot of things and make it the greatest Comic book movie ever made.
Time travel the whole movie.
Explain the inconsistencies in all of the X-men movies.
Especially between First class and X-men.
Make the movie more like the new Star trek Movie.
Bring back the Jean Grey and Scott Summers and Xaviour.
Like the movie butterfly effect type movie.
All the while using the Sentinels backstory.Maybe even chasing them through time.
Line it all up.
It would be different and it would be great and awesome.

It wouldn't be a current threat though...First Class was a prequel and that team exists in the past. Really we are all just assuming the threat will take place in the First Class era because we know they are being included in the film and that seems like a likely scenario...we don't really know for sure though do we?

Also the plans for The First Class team being the focal point could very well have changed...

I'm assuming the event is actually in the future, and someone from the future comes to warn them, and bring's them there. Especially with all of these "future" old Xmen getting cast.

again, it's sorta very similar to the current comics with the FC coming to the future right after scott has killed xavier, and no liking what they see they've become.


that being said... only beast, Xavier, Magneto and Mystique have to deal with there "future self-actions" but... i guess Havok could be pretty pissed his brother scott was killed... and well.. banshee i guess could meet his daughter?

Yes, it's also possible the threat/event is in the future. I've been thinking that too. It would explain why we have only heard about four returning characters from First Class.
