I guess the difference is that X-Men movies don't really present their characters as these bold god-like beings, but rather as just people with extraordinary abilities. I can see the appeal of the other style, but personally I do prefer the more low-key realistic approach rather than the more cartoonish style of The Avengers.

I think realistic is fine, as long as it doesn't override who the characters are supposed to be.

Nolan's Batman and Catwoman still looked like Batman and Catwoman. As I said elsewhere, Catwoman even had stiletto-heeled thigh-high boots on and managed to run, fight, leap, somersault and ride a very unusually-shaped motorcycle. Nolan also found a way to give her pointy cat ears.

So, it's quite possible to be dark, gritty and realistic and still be comic-accurate, and to use what would seem to be impractical costumes.

If they do include Storm, but still don't get her right, I shall have an almighty tantrum...

i'm speculating that the plot will be about magneto or mystique kills jfk, and a mutant killing him will cause the future x-men to have to face off against the sentinels and a post registration world. Rachel summers, or cable, or more than likely bishop goes back in time upon magneto/prof x's request to prevent a mutant from killing jfk, after succeeding his future still occurs.

Unlike the comics, where after the assassination was prevented, the future still existed as an alternate timeline, I hope that in the movie they actually DO succeed, and a brand new timeline is created... one where things are a lot closer to the comics. Especially since that seems to be Fox's new goal in expanding the universe.

With the way they handled First Class and now The Wolverine, I won't be shocked when it's announced we won't get a trailer until February 2014.

Ideally, we'd get a teaser with The Wolverine, and a trailer in December, but that's just a pipe dream.

I think we should be happy with an after credits scene on The Wolverine and a teaser on Dec, like these studios are doing now on Dec, with these epic trailers.

But a teaser on July would be amazing, definetly. not sure if the effects would be ready tho

I hope so. They need to steal at least a little of that thunder goen on at Marvel. This films gonna be huge for comic fans. The more hype and publicity the better.

Id love to see the whole cast there, at least 7 actors (from both timelines)

One of the first improvements they need to do is replace Berry. It most likely won't happen but one can dream.

Yeah just because they haven't announced some of the cast from FC to return, it doesn't mean they are dropped for now.

I think Storm's only involvement in the future timeline should be as a gravestone!

If they want to involve Storm, introduce her in the FC timeline.

I think Fox could potentially set off a fan storm on the internet if they play their cards right. There could be so much hype created around this. Hopefully they'll be speculation similar to the one created around Avengers.

The events from the last stand causes them to put into effect the Sentinal act.
Wolverine and those that were left fight this threat but it becomes too much for them.

When suddenly a Mutant(having this power) presents an oppurtunity to go into the past and undo the current events.To do this.They must go back to the time of First Class.They fight and undo the treat of the Sentinals started by Stryker who caused the events of Part 2 which caused Jean her life and alter the future.
The Mutant brings them back into a scene from the first movie.Maybe right at the scene where Wolverine first enters the door of Professor X's office thus comming completely full circle.Everyone is there in the room.He looks at Storm and Professor X and only they know what happpened.

Thus we take it right from the start all over again with the original team intact.
And the First Class Team intact.

I've always loved this idea, as I believe it is stupid to disregard X3 and now that they found solution (time travel) to fix it.

However I would like the event to start changing from the past. This way we can see the reintroduction of all characters (James Bond style)

yeah, i honestly always felt the Sentinel Act would be the most logical thing to have happen after X3... I mean, Phoenix really caused a lot of death and destruction. it's a very logical step...

I always wanted that for an X4.. along with the "cure" only being temporary... and sinister acquiring cyclops's body

I was thinking, with them going with the DOFP direction for the sequel will the post/after(?) credit scene, with Magoneto (and the brotherhood) breaking out Emma, still tie in...

in a DOFP storyline what could Magneto need Emma's help with?

Maybe Magneto needs a telepath so if they ever face Xavier, they could use Emma to challenge Xavier's mutant powers. Emma Frost has also experience, she seems manipulative and a schemer, that would help Brotherhood's evil plans.

Emma Frost could take Destiny's place, or have a similar role, since its unlikely Destiny will be in the movie.

I'd love to see something like the opening/ending of the XMO: Wolverine videogame in the movie... That's an awesome way to start the film (you know, the messed up future)
