If this is true, which it might be, I wonder why publications like Entertainment Weekly only have a review from either Lisa Shwarzbaum or Owen Glieberman, I don't think ever both. And Variety and Hollywood Reporter as well, if one critic reviews it, I don't think we see reviews from the rest of the staff.

1. You don't really see much of it. In some scenes we get like quick flashes but nothing else really.
2. The quips are pretty funny, but nothing really memorable. But that's just my personal opinion. And yes, he quips during cops and lizard fights.

You can't base your opinion off one review, especially Devin's. He would have disliked this movie no matter what since he's been talking so much crap about it for so long. You know how idiotic/childish he would look if he talked all that crap, saw the movie, and wrote a (begrudley) positive review about it?
He might as well keep his mindset.

People are swayed waaay too easily. You shouldn't focus in reading only the negative reviews, otherwise you'll just see the movie in a negative light. Read both sides, and see if the positives are what you wanted to be positive and the negatives are things you expected. Or didn't expect.

So a guy who you knew would dislike the flick, dislikes it, and that would make some people decide not to see it? And how are opinions all over the board? It's like any movie, some people like it some people don't. That's the nature of the beast.

And about him being a die hard spider-man fan, that may be true, but I've read three other reviews from self professed die hard spider man fans and they disagreed with him

You're right. Art is always subjective, so yeah it could be brushed off as an opinion if you like until you have experienced it for yourself.

I enjoyed the movie more the second time around after I made peace with its shortcomings.

Yeah he was pretty vocal about the reboot decision, but eventually he did came around it including the praise for casting Andrew Garfield and his Comic Con appearance/speech. In fact his review also praises the performance of Andrew.

Well Faraci's review reads pretty similar to a lot of the other ones. Praise for Garfield and Stone along with Sheen and Leary. His main problem was the story, specifically Connors. He also didn't like a lot of the action scenes.

But I am surprised he didn't mention anything about the school fight, which I thought was really good and way better than the final act.

THANK YOU! Not all of them will say the same thing because there are those that don't, it's all about what you think. Everything he said in his review is contradicted by those I posted and the one in the daily news this morning. And as an article I read this weekend said about opinions: They're just supplemental material for a movie, not the end all be all word because everyone has different opinions. At the end of the day, you have to make your own opinion

Yeah that was really good, just the editing was a bit strange at first, but so was the chase in TDK^^

I´m a fan of the action of this movie, besides the edit, it delivered!

There are at least 3 positive reviews by top critics that haven't been posted by RT I think. Positives by Joe Neumaler of the New York Daily News, David Edelstein of New York Magazine, and Michael Phillips of the Chicago Tribune. If RT will include 2 reviews from Devin's site, they'd better hurry up and include reviews from actual legitimate critics.

Not even to extend your rant but I am curious as to how they aggregate and when because Mr. Phillips' review has been out since friday, and there are two reviews on comingsoon.net from guys who've had stuff posted on rotten tomatoes before and they've been out since Friday also. And of course the daily news one isn't there yet. Kinda odd they aren't there yet

Maybe those specific writers just haven't submitted to RT yet. They decide if its rotten or fresh, probably choose they're blurb, so it wouldn't surprise me that they have to submit it also.

Did you guys see one of the comments on Devin's review?

The SuperHeroHype forums, from whence the last round of Spider-Man commentary sprang, have an enormously entertaining dedicated thread for early reactions and reviews, which is essentially Butthurt Central peppered with the occasional rational human being. It's like watching the 5 Stages Of Grief being played out in infinite detail, and there's probably a paper in it for someone on the subject.

Within the many thousands of pages of that thread, reviews are graded as follows:
Positive review: reviewer is an outstanding human being who must now be tweet-bombed with congratulations on their taste and fine contribution to the movie's score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Negative review: reviewer is a despicable piece of **** not fit to walk this Earth who obviously has an axe to grind and/or is an agent for forces of un-named darkness and whose review, which they clearly wrote before they saw the movie on account of the aforementioned axe/dark forces, should be excluded from Rotten Tomatoes because they're bringing the score down.

Made me laugh.

It's too bad the general complaint here seem's to be The Lizard/Conners. I remember not too long ago (with Raimi's films),everyone couldn't wait to see The Lizard. Though minor,we were teased with Conner's character in those films. And now we got him, but for whatever reason he may not have been handled correctly. A shame. I'll reserve my own personal judgement until I see it tomorrow or Tuesday.

We should thank Devin for lowering the RT score down to 77%. I like how he says that the worst part of the movie is not that TASM is a reboot covering similar ground to SM1, but is Andrew Garfield.

Strangely, this is not the worst part of the movie. Webb’s version of Peter Parker, played with James Dean sullenness by Andrew Garfield, in no way resembles the Puny Parker we know from Amazing Fantasy #15, but that’s a concern only for the nerdiest Spider-Man fans*.

I guess nerds need to protest the film because Devin said there is a concern for them!
