Just gonna repost this here since it got stuck at the very end of the last thread:

Quote:
By the way, how would you guys feel about a shortened 6 episode Season 4 for Red Dragon? Fuller suggested that a while ago, and now that we know we're getting a Season 3, I was just thinking ahead and wondering if maybe Seasons 4 through 7 may not go with the full 13 but rather follow that 6 episode miniseries esque format he suggested a while back. What do you guys think?

I feel that 6 episodes would be restrictive, given how much they've already expanded the mythology.

I'd definitely prefer the full 13 episodes per season.

If they do decide to do that then they should just split the season like Walking Dead. Half in the Fall and half in the Spring. That way we could have the separate seasons with the different storylines and they don't have to worry about getting the full 7 seasons.

I have become quite comfortable with the arrangement we have now. But, if they did as Mr. Locke suggested, that would be a way to make it work.

Mikkelsen in person sounds a lot different. It's almost like he has more accent on the show.
He definitely sounds different. I wonder if it's just the way he carries himself. On the show, he's utterly in control of himself and his emotions and so on. Here in the interview, he was friendly, personable, joking.

I wouldn't mind shorter seasons of say, 10 episodes, but 6? 6 is pretty short. If the book adaptations follow nothing more than a single storyline, it could work, though, I guess.

Well I'm finally caught up on this show and damn, I'm surprised for a network show they're getting away with as much as they are. But needless to say, this seems to be the only great network show. Season 2 has taken a dump on last season. Pitt as Verger is one of those reasons. Just outstanding. The best tv antagonist since Gus and The Yellow King. I would have liked to see him kept around pre-mutilated a little longer, to play out that Batman/Joker concept Fuller described, but it was nice to see something wrapped up in a contained amount of time.

I'm very much looking forward to the finale. I love how Fuller uses the source material to tell his story in new ways for the format of television. It still retains the spirit of Harris yet makes it its own unique thing, which is the most important thing for adaptations.

Hopefully they can get to season four and do a definitive take on Red Dragon. Dancy is great as Graham and the best one I've seen to date.

This, but I would prefer a full season if I can get it. I for one find AMC's split season a real pain in the ass. I wouldn't be happy to see NBC do the same.

Well, the split season model was very profitable for something like Breaking Bad (which also wasn't really amazingly popular at the start of its run), so you never know. I wouldn't mind if they wrapped up the show within two years following the book storylines. I mean, I'm just not sure how they'd stretch the storyline of Red Dragon over 13 episodes, really, but I guess we'll have to see how they format Season 3 (which I can't imagine being anything *other* than serialized as opposed to episodic given the fact that its central storyline is supposed to be Hannibal on the run).

.... should I be concern about that?

Probably. Just stop drooling when looking at Cavill or you might wind up in even more trouble.

The only reason it's not good to eat while you watch Hannibal is because the show makes whatever you're currently dining on look like crap.

That's true. Like Crawford said I'd feel bad about it some of that no matter how good it would taste due to ruining the looks.

Also, just started S2E4 and watched the opening. We followed the bee for a bit and I thought "Oh it's a bee. I like bees." Then we leave the hive and I think "Oh for ****s sake!"

I still love the scene with Freddie Lounds on the gag reel for S1...

Freddie: "This is possibly the finest salad I've ever eaten in my life. Shame to ruin it with all that meat..."
Hannibal ".... shut up, b****."

I didn't watch that. I'm rectifying that mistake right now.

How close to what we know of the books will they be following in the show? Hopefully ignoring Rising anyway.

Is there anyone here who's read Red Dragon that can attest to it being possible for its story to actually be stretched over 13 episodes as opposed to just 6?

It's been quite some time since I read it but with how they've been doing the show I'd assume they could.

Well, I'm not sure how there'd be room for case of the week episodes to fill out that full order of 13. Unless they really did and could just create a solid, fully serialized 13 episode story, which I certainly believe in their ability to do, but I feel like it might be interesting if we got shortened seasons for any seasons after 3 just so that it's more likely to get renewed maybe. I don't know though. I could just be spouting off some nonsensical ********.
