Here's what Rhys Ifans said about this:
"Well, Connors is basically locked up in a very high-security mental institution. Then a representative from OsCorp appears miraculously in the room. How he gets in there and how he leaves, we don’t know. Maybe we will find out. It’s not Norman Osborn. But it is someone who is in the employ of Norman Osborn without question. It's someone you're familiar with" |

Massee/Shadows man is NOT Norman. Capone (Interviewer): We were debating whether it was a prison or a mental institute. Rhys Ifans (Doc Connors): It's not a zoo. [laughs] I kept seeing it as maybe a mixture of both. Then a representative from OsCorp appears miraculously in the room. How he gets in there and how he leaves, we don’t know. Maybe we will find out. But it’s not Norman Osborn. Capone: It’s not? You can say that? Rhys: Yeah. But it is someone who is in the employ of Norman Osborn without question. |

Well, how about that.
The bets are on now, who is it? Electro? Mysterio? ...David Lowell?

I don't know how much I should take Rhys's word. I mean, why would he talk about it if Marc wouldn't?

I'm thinking he is having fun with the fan base. I mean actors are often notorious for giving redharings.

Rhys Ifans just confirmed in an interview on CBM that the "man in the shadows" is not Norman Osborn, but an associate...LIKE I FREAKIN' SAID.

but if they wanted to have normans executive talk to him why not have ratha speak to him. They didnt actually show him die and its a better setup if it was norman, like Moriarty in sherlock holmes.

Obvious choices now after that interview...
-Electro because of the thunder/lightning. -Mysterio because of his ability to appear and disappear at will.

When he says it's someone that's familiar does that mean somebody that was in the Movie or someone that spide-rman fans would seem familiar?

I'm not really buying what the Hugh Grant's roommate from Notting Hill is selling. You heard Norman this and Norman that throughout the entire movie with Oscorp plastered everywhere.
Plus Massee and DaFoe are both ugly as sin so it has to be Norman right? Zing?

Ok if i were a betting man Id say it was Norman osborne (or a hologram thereof)
Other possibilities id be open to: 1.) The Chamelion- This would make sense since in the original comics the Parkers were inadvertantly caught up in a Red Skull Spy ring when they died. Sony doesnt have the Red Skull's rights, but they have the Chamelion, who was a top notch spy in his own right and gives the franchise a tie in to Kraven. (it would have a name tie in to "the Lizard" as well, lol) If anyone could get in and out of a locked cell without being seen, its him. 2. The Ringmaster... I say this only because of the top hat... if Sony put the ringmaster in as an Osborn crony and without a circus then the world really is ending this year :/ 3. Spencer Smythe- The spider slayer angle is one not really explored in the film universe yet. In some of the Marvel incarnations, he worked for Norman Osborn. He would likely have worked in a lab in Oscorp and may have had contact with Connors there... He would bring the possibility of the Molten man with him and i believe he built lifelike replicas of Peter's parents before. 4 Miles Warren AKA the Jackal.... Gwen's in this timeline. we know she eventually dies. We know the Jackal eventually clones her. We know that chain of events leads to the franchise killing clone saga which seems apt for the third movie in this sony trilogy... this was foreshadowed by the top hat Peter will wear as he dances out his emotions while influanced by Venom, who will be replaced by carnage this go around... I am totally kidding about this one... (I Hope) This would NOT be cool at all.....

I think he means a villain that is familiar to Spider-man fans from the comics.

When Connors said the possibility of a Parkinson's victim, he did say she, but he could have meant someone else, male or female. Maybe he meant Osborn? Maybe Norman has Parkinson's?

It's funny but SM1 set the standard for Superhero movies back in 2002, and then a few years later Batman Begins set a new standard. If only BB came out before SM1.

Parkinson's isn't a terminal illness. It can lower life expectancy, but it isn't something that will kill you. He was just using an example, I wouldn't read too much into it.

Despite what Rhys said, I feel like it is most likely Norman Osborn in the shadows. The thing I did like about the mid credits scene is that it confirmed the parents story isn't completely forgotten about.
