What if... what if Tony Stark wasn't the only engineer type in the world?

In the comics, Peter Parker created webshooters, spider-tracers, a spider-light, the anti-magnetic inverter to defeat Vulture... it's not like him being an engineer is something new.

I know, I know. I guess I just don't see the point in giving him webbing just to give him webbing. In the grand scheme of things, it doesn't change much about the story, so might as well stay closer to the comics. Just my opinion.

and why can't Peter be both an engineer whiz and a chemistry whiz ( which he seemed to be in the comics )?

and the whole point I'm trying to make is, I feel like what they did with the web fluid was a giant cop out.

I mean.......for years and years.....fans have been clamoring to see the mechanical shooters in the movies. There was the whole Mech vs Organic debate back when the 1st movie came out. And one of the biggest arguments the mech proponents used was that the mech shooters AND the web fluid showed Parker's smarts.

so, we FINALLY get to see mech shooters in a Spidey movie, and they are pretty cool!! But, what happened to the other half?? The mech shooters and web fluid kind of go hand in hand. If you're going to do them, do both. or don't do them at all.

And the way they handled the web fluid in TASM felt kind of cheap or cheating. I thought he watched the info on the net and reversed engineered the fluid. same with the cartridges ( or else he stole some from the lab ). That alone is a less than ideal situation, since it makes Peter come across as something of a thief ( he didn't create it himself ). But, it still takes smarts to reverse engineer stuff......

Now, I'm reading that it's possible Peter didn't create the fluid/cartridges at all, but just ordered them on the internet ( since Oscorp was already manufacturing the stuff ). I missed that in the movie. But, if that is indeed true, that's an even worse situation. That just feels extremely lazy ( on the part of the writers ).

not to mention the numerous plotholes it introduces......

and he also created the web fluid, and different variations of the formula to use against different villains, he came up with antidotes, etc.

so he also showed an aptitude for chemistry, too.

and in re to organic webbing, personally, I've always felt organic webbing makes the most sense in context of the symbiote suits. It's not the person himself developing special glands in his wrists/forearms, but the organic suit itself that develops and fires off the webbing/tendrils. So, theoretically, you could fire the webbing/tendrils from any part of the suit, not just the hands ( just like Venom and Carnage do ).

I've always thought that one way to "ground in realism" the whole symbiote suit is to go the Ultimate direction, and make the suit a product of the lab, not an alien life form.

The project could be based on using some kind of virus and genetically enhanced spider silk/webbing to create an "organic" suit that conforms to the user's body. Instead of soldiers having to wear heavy armor, or giving them bulky exoskeleton/robot armor (Iron Man), you create a lightweight, compact, skin tight suit that offers enormous protection ( spider silk is supposed to be strong, after all ).

taking it a step further, just like in the Ultimate storyline, the suit is also designed to "bond" to the host's DNA and improve all of his physical abilities. So, enhanced strength, speed, reflexes, healing, etc.

and because the suit is bonded to the host's DNA, he can control it with his mind ( just like Venom and Carnage ). So, you can command it to cover you body, or retract into a central location ( base of neck, perhaps ), etc.

I wouldn't mind seeing something like this at all, but we won't see Venom again for a while. Probably for the best. There are so many quality storylines to explore.

The score was awkward in some places. At one point I thought Lizard stepped on a piano while searching for Gwen

There was obviously stuff cut from the film and some of the early scenes didn't flow as much as I would of liked.

I don't know if Ratha is dead or alive.

The SWAT members being mutated and then easily being reverted back.

yeah....we probably won't see Venom again, but if they ever do use the symboite, that's sort of the "scientific" approach I'd take. Heck, with all the crazy **** Oscorp's experimenting with, I wouldn't put it past them to do something like that.

besides, isn't there talk of a stand-alone Venom movie?? maybe that will keep Venom out of the Spidey films......

Yeah Im sorry but I really had to smile to myself when I saw Peter ordering the webbing off the internet.

I thought "uh-oh. Those anti-organic guys on SHH are_not_ going to be happy about this!"

Nooo! that's not what I'm saying. What I'm saying is that they advertised something and then gave us something different, and I didn't realize that until I saw the reviews.. In the end I feel kind of cheated and I want to see those scenes that they cut out....plus just seeing more of Spidey would be great

I feel like this editing thing is getting people all riled for no reason. This kinda thing happens all the time in movies. I agree there are some weird jumps and pacing issues in the movie due to the editing, but I think it's a stretch for anyone to say they felt cheated. I mean, who goes to the theater, sees a poster and says to themselves "oh boy, the UNTOLD STORY?! that's all I want to see!" No, you go to see a good Spidey movie and the little marketing gimmicks shouldn't matter. I didn't feel cheated by Dick Donner's Superman because it didn't make me believe a man could fly.

The only thing I don't like is that is cost $32 to see it in 3D with my wife. Other than that? The movie rocks and is way better than Raimi Spidey.

I didn't like how they changed Uncle Bens killer from being the Sandman. Stop messing with the origin.

The antidote in gas form and when precipitated is what cured the swat team. Also, it underscores what Connors told Peter earlier about how the galena (sp?) machine could pretty much cure certain diseases in a single afternoon.

Anyway, what I didn't like was Peter's excessive use of the words, "you serious"?

So...how many cops know spider-mans secret identity?I think like 4, it's not life Dennis Leary was the only guy there and kudos for using the full name when you address him.

The movie had some editing problems and he used his powers far too much out of costume

He was a bad Spider-man.like he was bad at being Spider-man he spent most of the movie attacking Blonde dudes, getting his ass kicked by the lizard and crying.

I have a few issues with the movie, but most have been brought up repeatedly, so I'll skip them.

One problem I had was, Peter's inconsistent strength. For comedic reasons, such as bending the goal post, he seemed superhuman. But when it came to jumping ability, he looked like a regular person. Such as jumping from the moving car to the side of the truck.

And why can't Spider-Man easily run faster than a world class sprinter?

Stuff I didn't like
-The pacing of the movie, it was too fast.
-The camera shots! Ruined the look of the film.
-The construction workers helping Spider-Man, so cheesy.
-Flash hugging Spider-Man.
-The robbery at the convenience store and how Uncle Ben got shot. LOL @ anyone who thinks it was better than SM1's version.
-and many more.
