Thor can kick serious butt. But how many times has he just run in without thinking? How many times has he been exiled by his own dad because they just can't communicate? I want him on the team. But he's not cerebral enuff to lead. |

Thor's father is a jerk. He was exiled so many times usually because he refused to go along with whatever clandestine scheme Odin was running. And Thor's not a moron. He rushes in and throws a lot of punches because that's the function he fills on the team; he's the tank. If he were called upon to be a leader, he'd lead. He's filled literally every combat role that exists over the course of his life; he understands the ins and outs of each one.
The geopolitical concern may be valid, but he's got the human perspective of Blake, who's familiar with present-day politics, and he's got a whole team of people to advise him on those things. Being a leader's not about being perfect and knowing everything because that's unrealistic--an important part of leadership is understanding your own weaknesses and accepting help in those areas from your team. Outside of Fraction's anomalous, super-aggressive take, Thor is generally portrayed as a pretty level-headed, sensible guy after he's learned his lesson in humility, so he'd understand that.

I always felt that Whedon wrote Kitty a bit too young. His Cyclops was the best since pre-Morrison.

Eh, I could be wrong. I think I just pictured her as being older while reading Excalibur and even Claremont's Uncanny. She always came accross as mid-twenties (at the youngest) back then and Whedon wrote her as maybe 19 or 20. Keep in mind though, I didn't read a lot of Kitty in my earlier years. I read Excalibur hit and miss She joined the X-Men after that but was just one of the group, seldom a focus. Then Claremont wrote her out and brought her back a couple years later in X-treme for a couple arcs, though she came across mid-20s to me there as well. Then Whedon had her and I felt like maybe she was 19 or 20.
Age aside, he did write her wonderfully. She was a very likable character.

The whole first scene was about how far she came since her 'Professor Xavier is a Jerk moment'. There was also her catty exchange with Emma about how she learned more about good and evil from their first encounter, hammering home how much she's grown.

I miss Whedon's Cyclops more every time I see what Cyclops has become since then.

If understanding your own weaknesses is a quality you need, count Thor out on that one too. This is a guy who, because of his own pride, will still try to battle the Hulk muscle to muscle instead of using his head. |

At least it used to be only artists. They do that for writers as well now. Don't you just hate picking up a book just to realize the good writer is only there for the first arc for sales? DC does it, too. |

Yeah, but that's mainly done in hulk books by hulk writers.

Yeah, that was funny. I'm wondering how the Skull knows Magneto from when he was a kid? I remember their feud way back in Cap vol 1 during Acts of Vengeance when Mags buried Skull alive for being a Nazi but not because they knew each other.

The final scene was pretty shocking. Red Skull might of just found a way or reuniting every superhereo against him by what he did.
This is the kind of stuff that makes the Red Skull the most hated supervillain even with other supervillains. He is truely despicable and unredeemable

Yeah, Doom may be the "greatest" villain at Marvel but Skull is the most evil with a capital E-V-I-L.

Doom has played the hero from time to time.....even Reed and Sue's daughter can find his soft side. But the Skull?? He is a total VOID! He's Marvel's Joker, when we talk about pure Evil |

I don't get why the mutant Avengers integration is made as a big game changer by Marvel given that Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver and Beast have been Avengers for years.
