Default Web Fluid and future Spider-Man gadgets

This has been a topic that I noticed has been brought up on this forum, but not in it's proper topic. Sadly, there is no true proper topic for this topic, so I made this topic to talk about the topic. :P

Anyway, you may of noticed that Oscorp develops 'bio-cable', and that this cable is what Peter uses as his webbing. In the movie, this cable is compressed into small containers, which contain hundreds of feet of webbing. It is spun by the genetically engineered spiders in the spider-room, and I presume is shaped into cable by special machines.

The web-shooter design scene starts with Peter researching the bio-cable while eating Chinese food, and continues onto Peter building the web-shooters in the garage. He has a box of the small containers that contain the web fluid. How he obtained this box is unexplained. He takes these containers, and their design, and builds a wrist-mounted cable dispersal machine. Or, a web-shooter.

I have some questions about this:

1. How did Peter obtain the web fluid? Did he buy it? Or, did he steal it? He couldn't of asked Gwen to retrieve it since she didn't find out until after he became Spider-Man.

2. If Peter bought it, is the web fluid available to the general public?

3. If it's sold to the general public, what kind of device do you use to use this cabling? What is this cabling even used for in the first place?

4. If Peter is buying it, won't the police be able to track the guy buying large amounts of bio-cable?

5. Does Peter alter it in any way? He did, after-all, tell the car thief he designed the fluid himself.

6. Does Richard Parker have notes on this?

Discuss.

4. Not just the police, but OsCorp themselves. You think their scientists don't see Spider-Man on TV and think, "That looks an awful lot like our bio-cable, guys."

Because you're looking at the wrong one.

(Still tells you basically nothing, though.)

I still believe it wasn't quite ready, so Pete basically finished it and found a way to shoot it. Which is why he said he designed it. I don't remember the simulation of it saying it evaporated, and with super strong cables that's not the most practical feature, so Peter likely did alter it at the very least.

Well, we never saw the webbing dissolving, and it's never confirmed that it does, so it's not really confirmed.

That could get messy in a hurry if it doesn't...

Dafuq.. I wrote the same thing twice in that post. >.<

Yea, I dunno. I would prefer for it to dissolve, but I dunno, Peter isn't shown altering the webbing itself.. maybe the device itself alters it?

Considering we were introduced to the bio-cable via an Oscorp ad, I'd say it is available for consumer purchase. Peter bought a box (which is probably nothing for a product that's likely often sold in bulk), and used it in a formula to create his webbing.

As for why it's not conspicuous to the police, it seems like the bio-cable is a popular product as it has its own wing at OsCorp and is clearly being mass-produced, and I doubt the amount Peter's buying even remotely compares to what various companies and industrial entities are. Besides, what Spidey's using technically ISN'T what people know the bio-cable to be, since Peter has simply used it to create his own formula.

Someone should ask lightrey. I love this thread! I would say the webbing dissolves like real webs. However in the movie especially the school fight scene they just disappear instantly..

When Peter was building the web shooters, there was a brown box with a white shipping sticker on it with the cartridges in them right next to him, so he must have bought them and had them shipped.

If the webbing dissolves then all those people in the cars over the bridge fell into the river.

This brings up an interesting point: were all the cars occupied? If they were empty, why would Spidey go to the trouble of saving them? But if they were occupied, why did Spidey leave those people to fend for themselves (with the exception of Jack)?

Hmm.. man, I like this theory. Okay, what is this used for, and if it's available to the public and not just corporations/stores/workplaces (if it's only available to store you can normally only buy it in a large bulk amount), what do people use it for?

Whatever uses people have for heavy-duty cables. My impression was that this was just a superior, portable light-weight cable that can hold more weight than anything we currently know of and is disposable/environmentally-friendly. I would imagine such a product would be very attractive to mountain climbers and the like. Ya know, like spelunking.

True..

But since it's packaged in those small cartridges, I wonder how you would actually get it out? Would you use a device to use it? Or is part of the cable sticking out of the cartridge already and you just pull it out?

Another question, if Peter just added something to the webbing, did he do this to every single cartridge he owns? If so, that seems like it would take a while to do.

Well now we're in pure hypothetical territory since they didn't expand on how the bio-cable itself worked whatsoever, but since it was in those little cartridges, I'd imagine there would be various devices on the market that would form the fluids in the cartridge into an actual cable-like form. So what Peter bought was akin to the ink cartridges for a fountain pen. And we never saw the "pen."

My guess is that he "borrowed" it from OsCorp. I didn't get a feeling that this was something that you could buy at Wal-Mart.

I would assume the web-shooters mix whatever he adds to the bio-cable fluid when they shoot it.
