I know I'm totally in the minority regarding traditional tights (and that's okay). But during a recent photo shoot to promote our upcoming school stage play, a few of my drama students dressed in some custom-made traditional-styled outfits. The lighting and atmosphere reflect what I believe should be the treatment for these types of traditional outfits.

Eh it looks goofy to me. Not trying to crap on the costumes because they are well made.

Fair enough. Like I said, I know I'm in the minority on this tights issue over here at SUPERHEROHYPE, and I know it's not a look that everyone appreciates. Thank you for the nod on the craftsmanship on these outfits. I did work very hard on them.

Decent costumes, but the photos look like they belong in the mid-90s.

Movie wise my preference is;
When it came to Batman and Robin there was really nothing right with that film, from the Batsuit to the Batmobile it went south (plus surfing on rocket hatches…), Robin's suit and Redbird were the best things to come from the design department (if they had toned the armour down it would have been perfect) and don't get me started on Batgirl as thats not an outfit any young girls Uncle would create for her. Again the freeze suits where did they come from (other than a toy contract) as the one in Forever had reason behind its appearance but why change back to an older suit design to then yet again go to a more 'advanced' suit. the perfect suit would be a combination of the Nolan suits, split armour panels allowing for the greater range of movement but simplify the design especially with the legs which could have been larger pieces with detailing. That aside TDK/TDKR suit was the best Batman suit to me, looked scary, practical and almost comfortable and if I could have one of the suits it would be the one Id choose. The one thing the next Batman needs to avoid is the magically appearing gadgets of the Utility Belt from 89-B&R. Personal preference though, I am sure many will agree and disagree with my thoughts |

Oke, guys. Let's get down to brass tacks. We all know Bruce is about practicality, so it should look like it has purpose. He's also very theatrical and frightening, so undies over his suit wouldn't work. Here's what I propose;
We start with the body frame work of Earth: One. This looks good, and the seams suggest the original suit was to small to fit the armor. For afore mentioned armor, I suggest boron carbide(They based TDK suits off of the plates they make with it: It's what they use for tank armor). Personally, I don't care how dorky it looks, the bat symbol needs the oval. This would draw gunfire away from the head, which as mentioned in the dark knight returns, is the only place on his suit he can't protect. Long ears, for an intimidation factor, large eyes, to give the impression of something else than human, and no mouth opening(let's face it, this is the worst part of the suit's design. It takes the idea of a monster, and burns it with it's own coolness. Long gauntlet blades are exaggerated, which is, again, theatrical. CLAWS on the gloves, this is scary as crap to a drug addict or a thief or rapist or whatever the case may be. The belt has different shapes of pouches, as to save space for more tools. This may spark hatred, but the idea of the Clooney-Blue is actually practical. Black creates too much siloughette, and that's almost as bad as wearing black colors. Just so long as it isn't too shiny. The cape should be a scalloped 'V' shape, because if it's going to glide, it needs to end up as a triangle, which a rectangular cape would have trouble with. Ninja boots(you know, split toes?) are made for running and climbing. Stun Knuckles to add a zip to his punches. Finally, JUST TO MAKE IT LOOK COOL, invert the colors on the symbol, to make it differentiate. |

No, but it looks better in TDKR. Same design, but there's not such a blue shine on it and Bale fills it out better.

It's funny. I thought there was more blue shine on the suit in Rises than there was in TDK.

Hmm, really? I'm certain I noticed much more of the grey of the suit.

What's the best fan film Bat-Suit? For me it's a toss up between "Dead End" and "City Of Scars" .

I hate the Dead End suit that thing looked like a cheap Halloween costume, though the cowl was well sculpted.

City of Scars, apart from the chest logo. The cowl is what sets it apart for me.

Seed of Arkham's costume is pretty sweet. I would use the actor in the reboot as well.

Would you please post a pic? I don't believe I've ever seen that suit.

And a man dressed like a bat isnt goofy looking anyway
I like the first version that artist did, the second simplified one looks odd around the cowl but its just the way its drawn. Would look better with a black Bat symbol (just my own preference) as the gold/yellow simple bat was always Batgirls thing. Also I would shape the blades more like the Begins/Dark Knight suits, again just a personal preference. |
