My favourite flow on section of the score (apart from 'A Strom is Coming', 'On Thin Ice', 'Gotham's Reckoning' and 'Mind If I Cut In?' would have to be: Despair Fear Will Find You Why Do We Fall? Death By Exile Imagine The Fire

I really connected with Zimmer's Bat scores and they're one of my main favourite things about the trilogy.

^^^LOL at Zimmer's last comment about him not knowing what to look forward to b/c he thinks the TDKR or the trilogy as a whole gave him everything he could ever dream of or whatever. And in return not giving the scores much, but only his signature sound that's in 90% of action movies today and counting. Oh and I can answer him on what he has to look forward to. Botching the MOS score that's what. Hopefully there won't be any future Batman movies offered to him or his clones. He's done enough damage.
I'm sorry but TDKR or any of the scores to the Nolan batfilms didn't leave much of or any impact on me after watching 'em the first time. It's more frustrating with TDKR being the conclusion of the Nolan trilogy. The score for that one didn't enhance any scenes, imo. In fact I didn't really notice it in the movie except for the rehash stuff. I'll admit I was too caught up in the movie to notice it. I kept an open mind and gave him the benefit of the doubt but alas Zimmer failed to impress again. I own past batman scores that's been released (legally) even the previous two except TDKR. I'll plan on getting it just not anytime soon. Nothing for me to get in a hurry and grab. I'll also admit other than being a completist. I am curious of how the score sounds out of context from the film. Who knows I might think it works better on album than in the film itself. Might even leave an impression but I doubt it. All the high praise and oscar buzz on this score is also very exaggerated. He doesn't deserve it. He shouldn't be able to get a nomination anyway b/c he reused material from the previous two and has used (as always) additional composers. For those two reasons alone the score shouldn't be eligible for a nomination. |

So I have been listening non-stop to TDKR soundtrack. Can't get enough! Anyway, Having only seen the movie once, I can't place where each track plays in the movie. Can anybody breakdown the soundtrack and place each track by what scene it's plays in? I like to imagine visually the scene when listening. Thanks.

I really like Zimmer's work. I thought he was at his best in Rises.

I don't think Rises was his best, but on it's own it's damn good work compared to other scores out now. I was a bit disappointed in TASM, despite Horner behind it.

I may have lost my mind but I'm sure I can hear a faint "desh desh basara" on Why Do We Fall. Either that, or the scene is just so good that the scene is imprinted on my brain, chant and all.

What makes Zimmer's work elite, his music is catchy and fits great in scenes. Not the most beautiful songs but soundtracks aren't for that reason.

I guess I'd have to sit down and just listen to the soundtrack, but it seems like nothing from tDKR score was that special. Especially compared to TDK.
The two exceptions would be "Bane's" chant and Selina Kyle's theme. I didn't realize just how much I liked the latter one until I saw the movie for the 2nd time. It's a good score though, is just that it seems like a re-tread of the past two movies. It's cool that Zimmer enjoyed working on it so much though. |
